FATAL ERROR!!! NEED HELP ASAP

when in the middle of trying to chop up a sample or even lay out a drum pattern i get this fatal error message any one come across this an if so how did you fix it any help is greatly appreciated

You got the short end this time. Turn off the machine and start from scratch again. Lesson learned.

That really doesn't help solve my problem . it happenes EVERYTIME I use it. The machine is pretty much useless because I can never get anything done

the longer you want here on the board the longer it takes to get fix. We are users just like you, not techs what do you think you should do? Wait for a post or call your local shop? The choice is yours! I had problems in the past myself and I took it to the shop and had it back in two days. But that is just me.

Yea. I have called akai an of corse they are no help what so ever . I wanna send it in to the shop not to crazy about packin it up an shippin it out ups an fed ex aren't the most responibe when it comes to takin care of fragile valuable. Items

I have shipped my unit out at least twice in the yrs I had it. But I bought a stage case for the 4k. As far as my 3k and other mpcs just a plain ole box with alot of packing and tape. I always get to know the delivery guys here to handle my kit with care. But if your shop it nearby, I would drive and see if I can get it fix in the same day plus pick the mind of the staff about the functions of the 4k, any freebies samples CDs, extra manuals, shoot free mpc gear the whole nine. Plus ask for a discount too on top. Face to face gives alot better service and the extras.


And ole yeah, feedback on the product too.

Had same problem with blue 4000... Update os and you should be fine for a month or two... You will have another crash eventually.. I sold my blue one for parts cuz I didn't want to burn anyone.. I have a white 4000 for two years now no problems at all...

The os is at the latest which is 1.71 or has there been another update if so how do I install it an where do I find it

Download os 1.71 and os loader from akaipro.com.

When I am done downloading the os loader I know I have to hook the mpc up through the usb but I am clueless of how to install the os on the mpc

Let me guess, you got a blue 4000 Call forat or VST

"Hi

These machines are known to be 'buggy' and this fatal error is a known recurent problem with the 4000.

The error stems from the EPROM on the motherboard and the only known repair is to 'reflash' the EPROM.

VST service US are specialists with Akai gear and are said to have developed a method of reflashing the 4000 to cure this problem.
