Thats pretty much my exact process....
(minus all the damn spacing in my text)

I use that method because I feel each beat can be summed up in a main 8 bar section and if I don't like an 8 bar loop of my beat, then no matter what kind of drops or breakdowns get added, if the main sequence can't stand on it's own, beat prob won't either
