Need some ideas from the DJ's around here! Need a mixer

Stay the FKUK away from Behringer DJ mixers. They look great, and the features tend to be there however the low end coming through them is SHYTE. Bass gets distorted very easily. Not only that but the build quality is NOT there. There is a very good reason why they advertise "replacable" crossfader on their boxes.

I don't know what your budget is but I noticed you said Rane was out due to cost. That means these are in your range all under $600 CDN.

I've used all three of these, but I ended up with an upgraded Xone.

I admit, I think my "needs" don't match up with my budget...Thing is, the more I spend on this mixer, the longer it'll take me to get into the green...so I'm trying to find that fine line of functionality and reliability without cheaping out TOO much I don't want a mixer to crap out on my the 5th week into the summer...

Keep an eye on craigslist. I have run across listings for Rane, Vestax and others in the past. You might find a great deal.

I've thought about it, and I would be OK with a two channel mixer w/ atleast 1/4" outputs and a Mic IN... Any suggestions for a mixer with my new "dumbed-down" requirements?

I DJ all the time, but i use a shitty Numark mixer lol. I keep the floor packed though

aint nothin wrong with a Numark.. Every place I played since 1993 had atleast 1 Numark, no prob with em

has cool effects

has your 1/4 outs

has separate record out (rca) which is cool in that it does not record the mic output so you can recor your mixes during gigs without them being ruined by the gig specific announcements ( last call/ car lights on/ specific vendor promo announcements)

OOOOOOOK! So I finally found my mixer...Picking up a Denon DN-X120 tomorrow after work...

Reviews online are limited so if anyone here has had one of these, any feedback is appreciated!

Turns out my first requirements were WAY off...all I really need is a solid 2 ch. mixer with a mic input. Atleast 1/4" outs and no effects...nothing fancy...

These are $200 so I'm hopeful that they didn't skimp on the sturdiness factor, and only left the effects out...

What do you guys think?

The Denon is a sturdy mixer, but it's TINY...

The specs say it's a 10" mixer, but it's waaaaaaay small for my case and just feels too small...I'll use it tonight and see what I think, but I have a feeling it's going back next week if I can find something else...

^&^ Yeah dude thats the smallest one on the market. I've used a denon before they are pretty tight, suited well for electronic music. The faders (at least on the one I used, demo so it could be worn) were loose and glidey. Great for slow fading, not so good for scratching

yeah man...Not kidding when I say it's TINY! Guess that's what I get for not looking up the dimensions before picking one up

I do a little scratching here and there, but am not too concerned if a mixer is strictly geared towards scratching or not...just want something bigger!

I like the denon build quality, but it's just too small...also- you don't have meters for the master AND the individual channels- you have to choose...guess I got spoiled with my last mixer after all

Ok! So after using the lil Denon for 2 gigs, I've decided it's not for me...I decided to return it.

Here I am, thinking I have 30 days to do so but turns out that on dj mixers, GC only allows 14 days - which ended yesterday! Doh! I can't return it or even exchange it- even if they would let me exchange it, their selections blows and have nothing that'll work for me...

So now I've got to sell the Denon locally and find something else- I'm now looking at either a:

Pioneer DJM-707

Anyone here have experience with either?

i've bought a new vestax samurai 05 pro d in 2004
the crossfader is still good
channel 1 and 2 faders are a little noisy when i turn it up to the max but only when is in phono mode (no problems in line mode)
but still love it
