FATAL ERROR!!! NEED HELP ASAP

Just to let you Ladies/Gentlemen and Swaggots know, this is what I got in email
from the good people at VST.

"Hi,

The estimate for repairing fatal error on the MPC4000 is 3 hours of labor + parts. Roughly $250.00 and our turnaround time for this 2 weeks. We are open 9-6, M-F and you can either ship it in or prop off. Thanks!

You can reload the operating system into flash yourself through USB or from a CD file and instructions available from akaipro.com. If the unit is not booting - we have a jig to reflash the boot block.

If your getting the Fatal error message, may be due to defective flash rom ic's on the CPU board. If this is the case, estimate to replace the suspect IC's is $195.00 labor + $55.00 parts. Currant turn around time is 10-12 days.

Reason for asking people try to make this a blue 4k problem.

According to Bruce few blue 4000 were shipped with fatal error from the factory. Im just repeating what he has told me when I visited to get my 2500 fixed.

konc3pt, you know I really believe he told you that.
However my belief has also always been that he may have been confused or misinformed when he said it.

Notice VST said nothing about the color or any other aspect of the 4k to denote the problem.
Maybe Bruce made his statement based on the units he had come across with the problem?

At least we now know based on statements from the 2 official Akai US service centers that the Fatal Error problem from the factory is real.
So now those having the constant problem can make the choice of getting the $250 repair to get rid of it or sell the unit.

$250 repair if you live in usa..
