Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Looks like I was wrong. I had thought that you could only use up to an 8GB compact flash card with our CF-CARD drive but it turns out that both the MPC2000 Classic and the MPC20000XL can format and use all 16GB of capacity on a 16GB CF card. Wow! You get partitions A through P, each being 934MB in size. Bear in mind that this requires that your XL have operating system version 1.14 installed but 1.20 is pretty much a bust anyhow, since it limits you to only 1GB storage media on CF cards, hard drives, any SCSI storage. The MPC2000 Classic gets 16GB with os 1.72 and we are always happy to format the CF card and install 1.72 for you at no charge. You don't even have to buy the card from us - just send it and we'll take care of it.

So for those of you who need power storage - here it is. Imagine 16GB of all your best samples and sequences, stored on a card that fits in your shirt pocket. Contact us now to get hooked up with the CF-CARD drive. Be sure to mention mpc-forums.com for a special discount price!

do you sell a cf card reader or drive (external) where has multiple scsi inputs/outputs so that a 2000 & 2kxl could be connected to the reader or drive and both access the sound library on cf or drive like one right after the other
without having to disconnect one/ re-connect etc etc?

Hi, I have an MPC2000 CLASSIC and recently picked up a used scsi card reader. I would like to add the operating system to a 4GB Kingston compact flash card. What is the best way?

Format the compact flash card with my MPC2000 and copy the os 1.72 from the MPC2000 to the compact flash card using the sampler's copy os function? (i think i tried it this way and got a scsi write error)

-OR-

Format the compact flash card with my MPC2000 and using my computer copy the .exe and .sys files to the card.

What is the best way?

Please post response on this forum for others to search in the future.

Thank you in advance.

Nice, is this a limited time only thing? Cause I don't know when I'll be getting one, but for 99 dollars I can't resist. Let me know friend.

productions, you have to let the MPC2000 create the bootable CF card. Boot up from the floppy drive and leave the boot diskette in the drive. Next, format a CF card in the Spyrus drive and leave it there. Select "Copy Operating System" on the Save menu, press "Do It" and the MPC will load the os into memory from the floppy drive. Once it loads up the os, you can select where you want to copy the os. Select the SCSI ID of the Spyrus drive and press "Do It". It will copy the os files over to the CF card. Once that is complete, turn off your MPC, remove the boot floppy and turn the MPC back on. It will boot up from the Spyrus drive!

Jean Claude, yes this deal will be available to you whenever you get the money. Just PM me at that time and I will set it up for you.

funkmachine, I'll be happy to give you the same deal but remember that our CF-CARD drive is not hotswappable. That means you won't be able to boot off the 1GB CF card and then swap to the 8GB. You'll need to boot off the 8GB and then leave it in.

If you want me to make your 8GB card bootable, I can do that but you'll need to send it to me.
