i've been making beats for a while now and i got tons and tons of samples and sounds built up. lots of times i'll come back to a sound i may have sampled and not ended up using, or one i've used before thats just nice
I was just thinking how i some of my samples that i keep coming back to have morphed into something completely unrelated to the original sound. Like for example years ago i took a sample of Bilal singing something and sped it up for a beat. then later i put a bunch of delay and reverb on it, and ended up just using the tail end for this wierd human/violin sound. and even later i had pitched it really low and added god knows what else to it and its this wierd scrappy bass sound.
lots of melodic samples i have are in the process of becoming totally unrelated sounds. not even to metion the sounds i have that come from proccessing a millisecond or two of another one.
its a good feeling when you know that was a sample at one point, but you have no idea at this point where its from, and you know theres no way anyone would be able to tell at all by listening, and you realize thats all you, baby!
