besides protools (computer recording)

what are some other good computer programs to record into. I know of C.E.P but what are some other ones.

Cubase SX is everything you need for recording and midi-production.If you want to get a little deeper into surround mixing and incorporating video into your tracks then Nuendo is the way to go.Nuendo is a deep program though and it is rather pricey at $1500 but the features that it has is more than enough to keep one occupied for years to come.

Sonar 3. It is becoming the best PC recording program. It works with almost all PC hardware and is easy to use. You can even import your Sonar recordings into a Pro Tools rig. I know Public Enemy used Sonar in recording their new album.

Cubase is cool, but has some bugs depending on your hardware. I say download the trial versions from both companies websites and see which best suits you.

is digital performer a good proogram???

digital performer is cool, but i think it is for MAC only...

try ableton live 4 the wave of the future. go to www.ableton.com and down load the demo. there will be a serious learning curve but once masteded you will be set. check the specs and see for yourself.

Ableton live seems especially good for loop-based sequending. Don't know how well it'd fit my way of working though.

I've used pretty much every program available on a pc; Sonar, Ableton live, Nuendo, Logic. i prefer Cubase sx now. It's feels faster and more stable than Sonar and has a lot more functions than Ableton. Logic is cool too, but it's not supported on the pc anymore and it gives me migraines to look at the screen.
Go try Cubase, it takes some time to learn but it's a great program.

I agree with Ieism. I had a hard on for Pro Tools for a minute. But since I ordered Cubase SX 2.0 I've forgotten about Pro Tools. I'm very happy with SX. I came close to going with Sonar but glad that I choose SX.
