hmmm i didnt even know that. Im currently runnin pt 7.4 on my powermac g5 and do most of recording at a friends so im always lugging this thing back and forth. Just looking for something a bit more portable.

If you are just looking to record some scratch tracks you might be ok.
Just remember that neither the iBook or PowerBook is going to be close to a single G5 let alone a DP G5 so expect to be very limited in what you can do.
A more functional move might be to get a Intel MacMini, it would be portable as well as more powerful than your G5.
