i agree with the above... after finally getting a hold of a 3000(LE) as a 60(II) owner i can't help but admit i was a bit let down by the sound of the 3K. maybe i built it in my head as being this magical fat sampler but i'm feeling a little underwhelmed by it even compared to my 2000XL. perhaps 16-bit just isn't that much of a mojo bitrate, but then again ASR-10/X has a lot more character i believe. maybe i need to spend more time with the 3K (only been 48h) as someone mentioned earlier here, playing with the filter opens up the sonics a bit. but still the 950 engine of the 60 is just a beast of drums.
workflow wise it's a toss up.. the 3000 feels a lot snappier but i still like the layout of the 60II better (maybe it's just cause i'm used to it). sequencer wise, i definitely also agree that the 60 has a sloppier feel/groove, excellent for that bouncy laid back early 90s vibe. 3000 is more rigid .. i also miss the red rec led lighting up while sampling on the 60 but that's a minor detail..
the 3000 obviously wins in sampling time.. great to have stereo too..
but overall i think the 60 brings a lot more mojo then the 3000, especially in this day & age. the 3000 clean sound and snappy sequencer being closer to DAW standards.. so imo a fully maxed 60 with OS 3.0 is probably a much better value price wise although it's all subjective i guess.. still glad i now own both though
edit: i knew i should have spent a little more time on the 3K, silly me had the sampling input setting on "low" ... i just tried it on medium/high and got MUCH more satisfying results so scratch what i said about no mojo (still prefer the 60 sound though!)
