Just ordered the MPC 2000XL. Seller stated the screen doesn't light up but it works. How can I fix this? Replace the backlight or something else? When it arrives I'll post pics

Could be the inverter or the cold cathode. If you have experiance with electronic you can change it by yourself but you'll have to be very careful if it's the coldcathode. One wrong move and your display could get the black or blank lines (unrepairable)

Ok thanks...I know electronics pretty good...Use to have the MPD32 and I went inside of it and change my pads and stuff...Its like a mini computer and I can work with it...Gotta find a manual first!

just to let you know what I mean when I talk about "experience in electronics"
You'll have to completely disassemble the Display Module to change the cold cathode light. Pad replacement is nothing compared to this:

Well then.....do ya thing. BTW if it is the cold cathode and not the inverter it might look dope to use a cold cathode with another gas / color.

For example xenon

I dont know. You'll have to search. Ask at your local "electronic parts store" or search mouser.com and similar sites.

Oh yeah, I'm not familiar with the Tascam US-428 but I ordered one. Anyone ever used that with a MPC?

It has 2 XLR outputs and I was gonna just use it for recording my tags/sound marks but nothing too serious. I use Cubase 4 and Sony Acid...I need some advice though, tryna decide on some new studio monitors and nothing over $300 for a pair

MPC came in few days ago...I went inside to check what I was researching and something was broke. Check these pics out...Have no idea what that could be but it looks like glass

Looks like the cathode tube is broken in two.

It should be an easy fix as long as you can source the replacement part.

I have no clue what type to get or where to look. I've googled some but I need more details

I took apart that 2000 classic to give cleaning the top casing a try before ordering a new one . While I was letting some "graffiti cleaner" work on the 3 layers of spray paint on the top casing I turned it on w/o it and the backlight went out . I've turned on a couple MP's w/o the top casing and have never had this happen . Anyone know what went wrong ?

On a side note, I looked inside after and there was a 1/4 to 1/8 headphone adapter wedged under the screen (I have no idea how it got there) . Could that have hit some contacts and shorted it ?
