big decision, am gonna get in over my head?

I have a fully maxxed out mpc1000 that I have an opportunity to trade for a mpc4000 with a "bad screen". I've wanted a 4000 for years now but have never used one. I've heard the learning curve for the 4000 is steep. I've owned a 2kxl and a 1k am I going to really have that much of an issue getting started on the 4000 if I trade? Also the guy says the screen needs to be "adjusted" by a professional and will cost between 1-2 hundred dollars...... Sounds a bit fishy to me. Either way if I go to trade what should I look for before trading and would anyone recommend not trading? Sorry to ask so many questions, but any advise would be appreciated

meh, i wouldn't... why trade your working tool for a broken tool?

maybe look at buying a working 4000 and sell your mpc to get it instead of risking it with a machine that has no guarantees it will ever work?

4k's are not hard to find so a suicide deal makes no sense.
Screens cost more than $200 alone last time I checked so you would be looking at that plus labor.
Worse part is that would be necessary just to find out if the unit has other issues.

Ask yourself why would he not spend the $200 to get it fixed and sell it for $1200 instead of taking a short for a 1k?

but the learning curve is not to steep and well worth waiting for a good unit..........

Yeah like I said, sounds fishy but, I'm a married, college student, producer so I'm 3x broke. An opportunity to get a 4000 hasn't ever been at my fingertips

I can really recommend the 4K. I sold my 1000 in order to buy one. Luckily my unit is a 100% working and it came in great condition. So far, the steep learning process was absolutley worth it, you can do so much with the thing. But then again money is an issue. Getting a new screen shouldn´t be too much of a problem tho, if your financial situation will allow it

Man I've owned MPC1000 and I never liked it. The thing I did was: I borrowed money to buy MPC4000, put my MPC1000 on ebay and added some money to it. Returned the money and now I have 4K and I'm happy . My 1K was also maxed out. Good luck.

MPC4K is easy as hell so don't be afraid to learn it. You just have to get your way around it.

His question was about a questionable 4k not should he get a 4k.

The 4k in question is a bad deal with too much potential for unseen problems.
