Anyone Try This?? (Cork Pad Sensitivity Kit From MPCStuff)

I'd be concerned about the cork disintegrating and falling into my MPC. Poundaproblem came up with a cheap sensitivity fix, I'm just waiting for him to post a tutorial.

Don't wait for his tutorial. You open up the MP and stick colored sticky dots of paper onto the sensors, so the pads hit them. Very easy fix.

i'm going to be trying something similar in the near future... but instead of using tape, stickers, or cork wood... i plan on using some highly adhesive thin foam behind each pad. and by thin foam i mean super thin like 2mm [or even 1mm maybe].

in theory i like this idea better for the obvious reasons... it's a softer material, it's less likely to fall apart, and the adhesive used on those foam sheets is like fly paper... it's meant for permanent use. i'll be sure to let you all know how it goes... and if it's a worthwhile upgrade, i'll post a tutorial with pics n all that.

i'm really hopeful this is gonna be the ultimate pad solution here... it would be nice since it costs under $5 to do.

i did get those cork things from MPCstuff when i got my new pads last week but i ended up not installing them (yet).

i thought i would need them but i like the default feel of the new pads with the gap - so that the pads have a bit of 'give' to them when you hit them - so i'm just leaving it as is right now. if it bothers me later & i want more sensitivity then i will pop the corks in. the corks are supposed to be easily removable so no stress there. i also wouldn't be too worried about them disintegrating unless your bashing your pads with a sledgehammer or something.

but trust me, these new pads are a dream! anyone who hasn't got them yet... don't hesitate! it's like a whole new machine with these installed. plus it makes your playing so much faster, more comfortable, and more accurate. much easier on the fingers, too!

And likewise, I urge you not to hesitate on filling that gap bro! You will never go back. Gap is bad news on the 1000.

Which pads are you talking about? those new colored/glow-in-the-dark ones??

i think he just means the pad upgrade in general [in comparison to the old original pads].

yeah, maybe i will eventually. it seems ok to me right now but i haven't been using the MPC too hardcore this past week since i've been busy with other stuff. i was getting some missed triggers last night when doing some really fast finger work, tho.

yeah i was just talking about the pad fix in general.

i did get the translucent pads from MPCstuff (goes perfect with the white screen! ) and there was absolutely NO difference whatsoever in terms of hardness/softness between the stock grey ones from akai and the ones from MPCstuff. i had them laid side by side flat on a table before installing them and i was going back and forth checking them very carefully and i couldn't tell the difference at all. the translucent ones just look cooler.

so has anyone actually used the "pad corx" from mpcstuff yet? i'm curious about how tall/thick they are... i did some experimenting on a couple pads with the adhesive foam last night and i think the 2mm foam i got is probably too thick... 'cause it fills the gap between the pad & sensor so tightly that the pads now feel hard as rocks [like the old blue mpc pads]. i'm wondering if the pad corx also make the pads feel this stiff. i'm imagining they would... in any case, it looks like i need to find a slightly thinner material. if anyone DOES have the pad corx installed, please let us know how they work & feel...
