I wrote directions to make sure he reproduces the bug--

1. Load the project into MPC running 2XL.
2. Listen to the sequence.
3. View a bar of the sequence in Pattern View.
4. Notice all notes that are now missing.

i didn't think pattern view worked on 16-3 so i'm not surprised notes vanish!

I noticed this once, but I seldom play in triplets. Good work, I'll send in my own report.

Thanks for supporting the cause! Great news,, after some back n forth, JJ has agreed to fix this bug for the next version.

I am sorry.
Your bug checked.
It will be corrected by the next version, when it is an easy bug, since it reported to the programmer.

Thank you.

Murai.

That's great to hear. I just sent off my request for updates on the loop edit. It also goes along with your request sooty. If anyone else is interested in these feel free to request the same thing. Here's a copy, so you can check it out:

I'm writing to request Loop editing as well as Pattern Editing in 16 pad mode on JJ os Ver. 2 for the MPC 1000.

Both of these options are available in 6 pad mode, but would be much more effective with all 16 pads. Plus, I believe these are both available in 16 pad mode in the 2500, so the code should already be mostly written.

In Grid edit in 6 pad mode, if you press Window key Pattern mode is dispalyed. If you press Numeric key Loop Edit mode is displayed.

In Grid edit in 16 pad mode, if you press Window key, the Grid Options are displayed. Why not move Grid edit to Shift F5 just like it is in 6 pad mode. That way both Pattern and Loop modes could be added in 16 pad mode.

Also, a tap button in Loop Edit mode would make Loop Edit function just like all of the older analog sequencers. (I'm adding this as a side note, as the others are way more important features and I know JJ's main focus is the JJ Sequencer now) While in Loop edit mode, the Undo button is rendered useless. It could be used as a Tap button to add the currently selected sample live as the sequence runs. Making Version 2 a complete Groovebox like that of Roland products.

Peace...

Got a quick response:

"Your request was sent to the programmer.
However, a programmer is very busy now.
Although I feel sorry, it cannot answer now about whether the request is possible.

Thank you.

Murai."

Can't hurt

yeah. he always says that. the request IS possible the question is whether JJ wants to do it or not.

i'm going to send my request later today just so they are hearing from multiple people about it.

Here's JJ's response regarding the " NOTES VANISH in Pattern View" bug in OS2 for the 2500:

"Thank you for the bug report.
The bug has been checked.
The bug is corrected by the next version.(Ver1.24)
The following version is due to be uploaded at the end of April."

some good news on the PATTERN / LOOP EDIT mode shortcut issue for OS 2 GRID EDIT on the 1000.

i sent the following request:

in GRID EDIT 16 PAD mode:
request to have the following same shortcuts as in 6 PAD mode:

WINDOW key = open LOOP EDIT mode.
NUMERIC key = open PATTERN mode.
SHIFT + F5 = open GRID OPTIONS.

i got back the following response from Murai:

The program of a grid is complicated.
Even if it changes a few, a bug occurs.
OS2 of now is stable.
A change will not be made since other bugs occur by change.
Since structure of MPC2500 and a program is not the same, it is not easy work.

JJ considers the improvement of the VIEW window in the grid of OS2XL.
It resembles LOOP EDIT of OS2.
It may be improved so that a pad may be hit and record of an event can be performed.

this was the response i was dreading. :(
as a last resort i asked if the request would be possible if 6 PAD mode was removed ENTIRELY.

Murai responded:

It is said that change is tried.
However, if it seems that many bugs occur, it will give up.

so it sounds like JJ will give it a shot as long as it doesn't introduce too many bugs. :D
that's all you can ask for, really. i'm just glad he is going to give it a shot.

but would anybody really miss that 6 PAD view if he removed it?
i never use it. it's more of a hinderence than a help for me.
i need that 16 PAD view so i can see what all the pads are doing at once.
much quicker to see what is going on and to move the cursor around that way.

no. 16 pad view makes it simpler!

Amen. Drop a line to JJ to let him Know your down with it. Numbers always help. I'll do the same.
