new pads...old pads...wtf?

so im confused on the pads thingy. it says...
"This is the complete kit to convert your Akai MPC 1000 to the same older better feeling, softer touch that all the previous MPC's were known for."
so does that mean old mpcs have better pads then the new ones? so old ones you dont need to change the pads? or is it the old ones that need new pads? im confused on this. should i buy new or old mpc 1000? help!

old mpc 1000's have shitty pads, so the new pads make em like the pads of olde models, like the mc 2000xl, 2000, 3000, and 60, which all use a sheet sensor. The new 1000 (marked 1000 BK-N) have old sheet sensor technology, but in a new form. hope that helped.
