which one 2000xl or 2500?

if you wanna save some dough, buy a 1000. IMO the pads are nearly unworkable tho, I hate my 1000's tiny itty bitty mosquito bite tits...ummmm pads. yeah pads. The 2500 is the best of both worlds, 2000xl feel, 1000 capability.

Yeah the 2500 is on a different level.

Thee 2500 is tough, just make sure u got thee " JJOS " or u'll be in trouble....

Im going to say the 2000xl.

The reason for me is the sound. New MPC´s have cheap Numark D/A converters in the bottom, so they will sound definetly thinner than the older ones.

You wont get as many features with the 2kxl than 2500, but for me the sound is more important.

The ADDA board is **** on the new MPC's. From the looks of it, they have two 16 bit converters runnin into a 24 bit converter, whereas theres one 16 bit on each channel on the 2000xl. It could be done, manufacturing a PCB with more str8 forward converters, but it will be costly and time consuming, about 100 bucks and a good 6 hours of work.

so there are MPC "hackers" out there that MOD their MPC's?

It is possible, but finding someone who is gonna put that much time to "downgrade" a machine is near impossible. I dont think its ever been tried before, but I know its possible

A long time ago I pm'ed Nym this question and he said it also would be a very expensive task. Hard to do

I know its a VERY long shot, but could It be any possibility that you could change the AD/DA boards head to head with lets say 3000´s AD/DA board to get the sound?

For someone who has the schematics and who has done DAC layout before, I'm sure it wouldnt be that hard.

It's finding that person!!!!

If 20 of us put down 100$, I'm sure finding that person would become much easier... With 2G's at stake we could probably find 10 people and have our pick. Then we'd have to get prototypes made, listen, tweak etc.. and then get a run of boards made. At this point it would be a bare board, but ordering parts for it would be no problem. Then we need to mail out the 100-200kits - Hopefully we sell them all and make our money back. Then you have to solder the whole thing up and install. Then you could listen to it and hopefully hear a difference!

Is 2 sampler beautiful...
But the 2500 is very better...

neat concept... would be also cool if there was a switch to change between the original and the mod.
