I'm glad PAD + WHEEL won't change sequence. That was annoying.

It'd be handy if pad and wheel was assignable to different functions e.g. off, volume, sequence, sample, tune, mono/poly etc just so you go make little program changes without leaving the main screen. But mostly that's being lazy about scrolling through the PGM options...

Anyway, thanks for pushing this through

Umm yeah DON'T EVEN bring up other shortcuts for it. The PAD + DATA shortcut is buried for good. It just got in the way for the heavy MPC composers.

mmmh, now that i'm actually sitting in front of my mpc, assignable would serve no purpose

Oh really? I don't love this feature, but I do kinda like it. Use it sometimes and it never gets in the way. (I use the MPC for composing not usually performing)

The + / - is the same as the data wheel isn't it? It just sends a single increment or decrement, whereas the wheel keeps sending them as you turn. Same input, but different input type. When you click the + / - it always does the same thing as the wheel I thought. Pad + (+ / -) does the same thing as pad + wheel, changes the sequence.

I use the + / - in the main screen too, for changing values one at a time instead of spinning the wheel 1 click, and it switches into the next sequence. So when they nuke the pad + wheel it should also nuke pad + (+ / -) too.

When you hold down "NEXT SEQ" and press + / - it does the same thing as the data wheel, so if they make that go back to main on release then NEXT SEQ + (+ / -) will do the same thing that PAD + (+ / -) does now.

If you want more shortcuts, don't use pads, use something like TAP TEMPO + wheel or + / -

i am just playing with the OS2XL MPC1000 demo ... and this PAD + WHEEL changing of Sequence proplem was one of the first that shoked me...
defenetely to be removed.

also whenever the TR - TR + buttons are pressed it highlights the Sequence field on top of the MAIN screen...??!!
is this normal in OS@ OS2XL

not quite pad and (+/-) changes the active track. Track (+/-) and pad 16 will move you to track 16.

I play live with the record button on and use the track +- to skip to the next track, this way i can mute parts later on in the performance as necessary. Its not as bad as the pad/wheel though.

I can't figure out what you're talking about. There is the + and - buttons under the data wheel, which do the same thing as the data wheel, might even be on the same circuit sending identical signals. Then there's the -/+ button on the numeric pad. If I hold down a pad, and press + under the wheel, it switches up a sequence, exactly like the wheel. If I hold a pad and press the numpad -/+ it does nothing. I tried holding the buttons and pressing a pad after, it does nothing.

Can you give steps how you change tracks this way? Mine doesn't seem to work, OS-XL / 2500.

ah sorry , the 1000 doesnt have those buttons. yeah im talking about the track +/- buttons :the f3 and f4 keys when on the main screen.

Its described a few lines down (its the same web address for both 1000 and 2500)

Ohhhhh you don't mean physical buttons, you mean "TR - / TR +", F3 / F4 on the main screen.

Ya, okay, if you hold those down and hit a pad it switches to another track. I see how that'd cause similar problems, if you're trying to preview what's on each track by hitting pads while going through with TR - / TR +.

One thing you can do for that is, once they remove the PAD + WHEEL sequence change, you can highlight the track # on the main screen, and hit the + / - buttons under the data wheel to move up and down the tracks, while hitting the pad, and it won't do that.

(I just realized the MPC1000 doesn't have + / - buttons, so I guess you can't do that)

I've never used the TR - / TR + and pad to change tracks before, so I don't know if they should keep or remove that. But if it's interfering and you have no other way since you don't have + / - buttons, maybe it should be removed too.
