Speak for yourself. I'm one of many who have used the MPC and moved on to Maschine because it's a worthy successor that's just as capable yet does more.

You'd be surprised how many MPC users also use computers as part of their production and how they would benefit from switching to Maschine.
The point I've been making is that up until now, the main advantage of standalone hardware was not so much that they're self-contained units but that the way the dedicated hardware and the software designed for it combined to form the most efficient workflows and tactile, instrument-like feel it gives you. No computer software + midi controller have ever been able to come close to that kind of workflow and immediacy. Until Maschine, that is. That is why it's a game changer.
Oh, and I don't turn off my laptop's display. I personally like having the option to look at it for certain things although most of the time I prefer to just look at the controller. It's just nice to have the option and flexibility.
