Hi....
long time MPC user (going back to Linn9000, where my band-mate wrote the manual!); and my MPC4K HD finally died; replaced with SSD, but can't locate my original discs, AND the CDRs I burned years back don't appear to be readable (blame COMPUSA blank media!!!!), on anything. Sooo.... refurbing my 4K and no samples ... this would be one of those awesome things if someobdy could archive these things someplace (I use Mac and PC), so any format from Acronis, to ISO to whatever - or Nero - would be awesome. Mostly looking for the 24bit drums for the 4K.
OH: not that's it's new to most folks, but I'll post the pix of the 4K overhaul ...
so far:
* New fan, not Akai (used 3pin to 2pin power adapter, didn't have to splice - QUIET!
* New CD/DVD drive
* new CR2025 battery - good to 2022
* New SSD using adapter (quiet!)
* new pad sensor array
* changed pads to white (had gone from black to 3K Gray)
[ ] replace LCD screen (have part)
[ ] replace plastic screen cover (have part)
I have both the white orig top, and the new old stock blue cover I put on there before the one pad sensor died and HD died same time (hits 10 years old to the day... stuff dies...). I think I'm going to do the blue top with the wood end pieces to match my Forat pimped MPC3K (Lexus blue paint, mahogany wood pieces).
Anyway... trying to track down the original Akai discs for the 4K ... and any help, pointers, etc., appreciated. Will pay for discs or USB thumb, or whatever. Since Akai doesn't sell these anymore, I don't think it's a huge legal issue as it's EOL (end of life) stuff. And, really, the 24bit 4K Akai banks don't play on any other MPC... so.... (well, maybe the Renaissance?).
THANKS!~
Christopher
