the most efficient way to save files on the mpc???

Whats up,
I have been beatmaking for a couple of years now as a hobby, and now starting to take it a lil more serious. Over the years I have collevted a large amount of samples, and switched to a multi card reader. When I go to load a sound or a program, i find myself spinning the wheel for a very long time. I am sure there is a faster more efficient way to save files, making it easier to pull up particular sounds. FOr example...I turn on the mp, record a sample, chop it, now I want to add the drums. Im sure i should be able to pull up a "kicks" folder, select a kick, then go to a snare folder etc etc. Also have a folder for all various programs.
I assume I have been saving my info "the hard way" but not that i have been doing it this way, is there a way to convert everything to make my file easily accessible. if it helps with suggestions, I have an iMac with an SD slot. The multi readr I put in the mp has an sd slot as well. Will there be a problem with me saving to the sd card, or should I stick with the 2gb compact flashes I have?
Is ther ea way to save on the sd card in the mp, then simple take out the card, put it in the imac, then pull up waves in an application such as logic or garage band? IF im not clear let me know. If I need to read the manual, I misplaced it...any help would be greatly appreciated

working with zips its a bit easier to collate my stuff down to beat/song disks, drum disks, sample disks. then i categorize with those disks with folders. on my beat disks i use a folder for each song/beat. if i use more than one sequence then i save ALL (all songs and sequences) and usually i just do APS (all programs and sounds). with drums disks i usually dont have sequences just mostly sounds. for ex: create a TR-909 folder and just all of those sounds in it. somtimes i would have a drum folder and then a list of ther folders such as kicks, snares, hi hats, misc, etc, but i try not to put folders INTO folders because your akai can get kinda glitchy once you get farther from the ROOT folder.

with cf readers its really easy to have just a list of endless sounds on your card. you have 2gb with sounds only being 16kb to 300kb, yeah you're gonna have a shit ton of sounds on one tiny piece of plastic and metal. so i think an option is to create folders on your 2gb card and then categorize by those. just have lists and lists of folders that you can go back to. way easier than scrolling through a vast amount of sounds... and it will save wear and tare on your jog wheel. i would know. if you have mucho sounds in an endless string i think you have a tedious task ahead... i would go through them with a sound in mind like SNARES. find all the snares and just program them on your mpc. create new folder, label its RDMSNRS or something and save that program. APS or PGM. i say PGM so you can add it to existing programs. then go back to your list and do it for kicks, hi hats etc...

if you can find a way to read your card on your computer then pretty much all i said isnt applicable because you can just organize through that waaay faster on your comp...anyway good luck
