Looking for user advice

^^Thats what im thinking bout getting. I currently have the axiom 25 but its a beast to carry around. Anybody own this that can give some input?

personally i got fat hands couldn't do it instead of playing a key i'm playing a chord

I'd personally just use my computer keyboard (laptop?) if your DAW supports it. The only use I see for those dwarf keyboards are for key-switching, if you don't have a 61 key or above keyboard and need a few octaves dedicated to such a thing.

Tanks for the advice yall. I tried the laptop keyboard when i was using FL but i prefer the piano key feel.

You mean the piano layout? If so, that's cool. If not, you'll be disappointed cause them shits feel like a couple Toothbrush covers laid in a row or plastic dominoes (actually a lot like the keys on a laptop).

You ever try putting a Axiom 25 in a backpack? I got 5 backpacks, and the thing is too big. Sticks out at the tops, thus no closing the bag.

Keyboardists with tight workspaces, laptop musicians about town, your search is over. I felt compelled to write a comparison review because I have owned both the KORG nanokey, and AKAI LPK25. I bought the nano right when it came out, excited to have such a backpack friendly controller. For the price, I felt like I got my money's worth. It was inexpensive, tiny, easy to configure, and not without its dinky charm. It was, however, impossible to play like a keyboard. If you don't understand what I mean, imagine your laptop spacebar turned 90 degrees. Now tap it with any finger. This is the EXACT feel of the nanokey "buttons". They are in fact velocity sensitive, but the finger motion required to play them is more like tapping than anything else. Enter the LPK25, a few bucks more, a thousand times better. Sorry for the lengthy intro. You can't truly appreciate this product without understanding what AKAI's higher price gets you that KORG fails to deliver: a professional grade instrument. The keys are miniature without feeling "nano" tiny, and the action is indescribable. The keys do not wiggle; they do not click. They're springy yet spongy, and infinitely more playable than those of my former on-the-go controller.

^ just looked in the post pics of your crib thread... and dude i commented on had that akaI joint. So much for paying attention.

Went to the GC in the neighborhood and checked 'em out. I was able to open the korg joint and give it a once over. The akai was not able to be opened for a test run.

Korg: although the thing is right up my alley in regards to the compact design. (Slim&Thin) The "tabs", they are far from keys, were un-trustworthy. Yet i will add the 2 year warranty for 9 bucks will replace any issues... breaks included no questions asked. So not that bad when you add that in there.

Akai: Velocity. Arpeggiator. Sustain which i believe is to make up for Pitch and Modulation missing. Tempo Tap. Better Build. The warranty is a bit more but covers the same distance.

This is just me. I play keys, but the lowest I could let myself go to play a small keyboard would be 61 keys. That's because I need all of my octaves physically there rather than penciling in or moving notes to compensate for that.

I don't see how some katz can do that But I respect everyones likes and desires. So if I had to choose between portability and some basic features vs performance, a full sized keyboard with most if not all features/options but in a small package, I'd go for that Akai MPK25.

I'm sure there's a decent gig bag out there that this could fit in. It's a no non-sense move, and you don't have to waste money and time to find out if something works out for you in the long run.
