Sooooooo I know I should read the manual & all that. But sometimes I wanna reuse a sample on a different pad. Why do I REALLY have to "rename" or "replace" it. Also how do I completely erase a sample from my program so it doesnt take up so much space. I know I should read the whole manual but up to now Ive figured it out by touch and its been great. Thanks for the help.

Yes you should. Because you dont need to reload a sample to use it on a different pad.

please do explain.

go to program mode (pad 6) and scroll to "sample assign". there you can choose any sample that is in the memory.. you can have the sample in all 12 pads (48 actually) if you want to.

explaining these things is no problem to me but it must be because i'm new here.

Please let me elaborate... you can choose any sample that you've loaded to the INTERNAL memory from "sample assign" if you haven't loaded a specific sample to the internal via program or project mode you won't be able to assign it.

And dude... you could have found this answer with the manual or google much faster. The forum should be reserved for the times your STUCK and can't find the answer, not because your too lazy to pick up the "bible".

i see a lot of people here getting mad because of "stupid questions", but for me this is a natural way of interacting. it's like asking the way somewhere.. of course you can read it from the map, but that's not the point.

and i personally don't understand why a discussion forum should work as an online archive, where you can't talk but you have to search for older discussions and find what you want from there.

but i respect other views and maybe i change my mind after a year or two here.

The problem is that these are relatively simple "problems" that have been asked about before and have been resolved. Furthermore the manual should be the first thing referenced for a situation like this. Sure this is an online forum and people come here for help but that doesn't mean that forum members should dedicate time to assist people who refuse to take the initiative to learn the machine or spend a few minutes with the manual. Theres a huge difference between needing help and wanting to be spoon-fed.

Do you know about the peanut butter and jelly sandwich problem? Essentially it tasks somebody with writing how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

So... yeah two slices of bread, jelly and peanut butter. Whatever easy.

Except what if the person asking has no idea what bread is? Well then how do you describe it to them. Maybe "it's a baked wheat product" will do.

Except maybe the person has no way of getting the bread where they are from. Well I suppose you can write up a recipe for how to make bread. Problem solved.

Well maybe not, the person has no access to wheat. Do you write up a paper about agricultural farming?

I mean this goes on forever. You could literally write thousands of pages of information to describe the entire process and still have something that your audience will never understand, or may just get bored and never read. The vast wealth of knowledge that goes into making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is ridiculous when you start to really think about it.

Now... when you get questions on this forum like "how do I load a sample"... the question is how do you answer it? The person has provided zero information that shows they even comprehend how to load a sample or even use the MPC, which leads to answers like "RTFM" or "go read page x" or "here is a link <url>" kinds of answers. I mean honestly... the person may not even know how to power the MPC on. Maybe they don't even know what a sample is...

I don't think it is so much that people don't want to help, but they'd prefer not to spend their time to help somebody who has shown a high propensity to not help themselves. This assumption may be right or it may be wrong and is totally debatable, but you need to think about the people who've been around for a while think about these things... especially when many of the forum members have been nice enough to answer the same exact question dozens of times already.

Look- Let me explain a little better- I know with the program menu you can assign the same sample to different pads-
THIS is what I want to do:
So: lets say I have a sample that has the words "They don't know"
Lets say I have that whole phrase as a sample in my program
What I want to do is separate it into the three words (they, dont, know) and put those separate words into different pads WITHOUT chopping it previousely on my computer or recording them straight in separately (ala "oldschool")

What I've resorted to doing is loading one up, and then loading the same one (its gonna say "sample already exist") so what I do is just rename it and trim the other two words off- for each sample.
I KNOW there has to be a less of a pain in the ass way to do all this. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
