the construction of intros, outros, hooks etc...

im fairly new to both music production and the mpc1000. ive learned my way around it and im kicking out simple throw-aways right now.

ive been having trouble makign intros, outros and hooks

usually when i hear a good sample i think of a way to make a verse with it, then i'll adventually add more and more untill i have the full 16 bars. then i need a hook, and sometimes i have trouble making a bangin hook mainly becasue the banging sample i first heard is all over the first verse. and since a track is supposed to climax im having trouble finding and making doper and doper loops. ya know?

so im making my ish pretty simple right now, and pretty bland, cause i make boring as hell intros and verses so my hooks are alright, and in comparision they sound like they are climaxing, ya know?

so heres a typical track:

-intro
-main
-hook
-main
-hook
-outro

now somtimes i might add another verse, but for the time beeing its pretty challenging.

anyways, im not asking anything specific, im just asking for soem advice, and maybe some heads can point a grasshopper in the right direction, so in 4 years from now when i got these formulas figured out, i got the right ones, doign things right, and doign them dope

this is the art of music with out a specific formula.just listen over and over untell you know where to take it.but just trying to help

a good way to go from verse to chorus
-have a different loop or sample running during the chorus then the main body or verse.
- also if you have you drums low ended on another track drop out the low or original drum hits in the last two bars before the chorus comes in, adds a little variety and may be a good starting point to mess with. Or drop parts of the bassline alternating with drum hits. Fuk around until you like the transition and it flows evenly into the chorus.

for the 3rd verse try intoducing a new sound or make the snare/hat hit harder in certain places to accent

Hooks dont have to be all that hard. Check it:
u can do it like this
Set up drumline
Set up bassline
Put some guitars for hook, like rhodes
There u have it.
As far as hooks are concerned over the hook u can put an extra shaker, thats it. OR if u want u can have one phrase sample which u play halfway during the verse, for the hook play out the whole sample twice or 4 times.

if you really want to make something INTERESTING!! then just try, and be ok with, making a song, not just a beat, that does not repeat. most of my songs don't repeat shit at all. let me just say though that i'm not against repitition. it can just get boring really fast.

i didn't read all the responses, but i was having problems making choruses at one point...cuz i was trying to start making the verse, then ADDING to it to make a chorus, but now what i've been doing it starting out making the chorus, then taking AWAY from that to make verses, taking MORE AWAY to make the intro/outro...that may help you

somethin gi learned of the bat, theres so much formula and technique in this, its almost overwhelming.

i'll just keep at it, and experimenting for a while till i figure out something that sticks to me

somebody was saying here repetitiveness is boring. This is true it may get boring. It is also true though thatevery modern piece of music - hip hop, rock, r&b, soul whatever uses the same song structure that is based on repeating patterns. The thing is to make the pattern so long and interesting itself it dont get boring. dont make your patterns 2 bars, make them 4 bars and then keep repeating these 4 bars. This is the basics of laying out music nowadays, this is particularly true of hip hop. Of course making music is art but it is science as well. I've noticed if u really get creative and leave the structure aside, your whole beat will get confusing. I've had beats like 2 bars intro, then 3 bars something else, then 2 bars introduce new guitar or whatever, then on the 10th bar I start something like a chorus and cats be like - wtf man when we supposed to spit? U got this verse going on and then u got this guitar or piano coming in and i dont know what to do. So thats that, u need some structure fo sho.
