SCSI QUESTION

I have now gone through several external cd-rom drives said to be compatable with the MPC2000xl. The MPC keeps giving me the message "no SCSI device!" when I try to load the cd from the cd-rom drive. Does this mean that my MPC cannot read SCSI (maybe due to internal error or a blown scsi fuse)? I turn the CD-ROM drive on first, then the MPC, and then shift>load. Am I doing something wrong? Are there any presets or parameters I should adjust? I would really appreciate as much input as possible, as this is a frustrating dilema... Thanks.

You will get 4.3 GIGS of storage space which is a TON
and it works like a charm
I just looked for his email address and no longer have it
search this sight under Harddrives as I mentioned the details on this sight ages ago

What might be occuring is that you have your SCSI ID number patch wrong.

I'm not the most knowledgable person in this department but I have had similar problems. If the fuse is blown you would definetly know (even if you were ashamed to admit it to yourself, you would still know).

About the SCSI ID number setting. In a SCSI chain, every device that is part of the link must have it's own SCSI number. The same number can never be use more than once within a SCSI chain. In the case of the MPC that number is 6. What you must do is go through your drives manual and fetch the information regarding SCSI number patches and what pin(s) in what formation represent a certain SCSI number. Most cases though you'll just have to flick a switch but if it's not obvious consult the manual.
