Boonie From Scratch Pt.1 Video

Have any of you seen the Boon Doc from scratch video? He's using the MPC, midi keyboard, and the Motif sound module. I've tried to produce using the Motif Rack, but I can only use one sound bank at a time... Boonie uses like 7 lol. So how would I be able to use more than one sound bank from the Motif Rack?

Look up "multi mode" in the manual.

Lol I know what Multi Mode is on the Motif Rack, But that's not what I'm referring to. Multi Mode can have a bunch of different sounds in it, but I'll only be using one bank. What Boonie did, was the layed down something on the piano, and then on the separate MPC track, he laid down something on the rhodes. I've tried this, and what ends up happening is that the 1st track (the piano track, for example) ends up being controlled by the Rhode sounds. So then I have a piano track that sounds like rhodes, and my rhode track lol

On the mpc, you can use 1 midi output to send to 16 different midi channels. In multi mode (on the motif), it should be set up to receive midi data on different channels from the mpc. For instance: Mpc track 1 set the midi output to 1A. In multi mode choose the sound you want on channel 1. Mpc track 2 set midi output to 2A. on the motif this should control whatever instrument you choose on channel 2 and so on...... the motif manual calls the 16 midi channels parts. So part 1 is set to receive midi data on channel 1. Part 2 is set to receive data on channel 2 and so on.... If you go to page 43 in the motif manual it gives you step by step instructions on how to use it. And make sure you are sending midi info from the mpc on the correct channels. Remember you have 16 midi channels per midi output. Sorry for the quick answer i gave b4. Wasnt trying to be a smart @SS or anything. Hope this info helps.

Now that I think of it, there's also the chance that he resampled whatever he played. He said he runs JJOS on his MPC 1K, so that's probably what he did. Is there a way to resample on Akai OS?

I actually thought the same thing about him resampling into the mpc but He told me he did not do that. He used midi when laying down sounds from his motif and from Reason (when he was using those). Me myself i do sample most stuff into my mpc wether its coming from virtual instruments or my sound modules. I like to have everything in my mpc b4 i track out into my DAW. I still use a PC i built 5 years ago so my pc speed/power is very limited so sampling my instruments into the mpc is a workaround i have used to take some of the stress off my PC. I plan on building a new PC with the new i7 processor so things will probably change for me soon. Glad i could be of help. Oh and your question about resampling.... you can sample any sounds you want with any mpc OS.... but JJOS has "audio tracks" which enables you to record audio in sync with the mpc's sequencer. With the akai OS (which sux balls compared to JJOS ) you can sample your instruments but you would have to assign the sounds to pads and replay them in the sequence.

Wow he didn't resample? So I take it he did what you mentioned above? I've been trying to lay down some bass with my motif rack, but it's kinda annoying
