are the midi outs working on my mpc?

i recently bought an mpc1000 used.. i have been trying to set it up as a midi controller for several days now, just to play beats into reason/logic... no matter what midi settings i use, no midi information seems to be reaching my midi interface (fast lane usb) i have tried using both channels, and all the different configurations on the from the midi screen... anybody have any ideas before i freak out?
i tried an old dr660 with the same midi cables/interface, and it worked fine

On the Main screen of the Mp there is a section titled MIDI. You need to scroll to this section and select what chanel and what output for every track. If you are new to an Mp, this can be confusing.

i did that, playing the keys as i scrolled through, but the little lights on the midi interface never turned on

on my machine only one midi works ..........skammed

i'm thinking i got scammed too, and i would never buy another mpc when i look at how shitty the construction is.. screens, pads outputs all break so easily

you might need to turn soft thru on in mode pad 9 for your keyboard notes to be transmitted through the mpc. have you tried playing the pads?

i tried that i'm pretty sure, but let me try again, i have lost a few brain cells in my day, and not as young as i used to be, lol
