Hmmmm. Did you format your MPC's hdd using jjos? It's highly recommended. Did your pc ask you to "fix the errors" on your MPC's hdd? I did that once and it acted weird. I had to use a disc partition manager to re-activate the drive and assign it a letter.
This is the approach I take to repairing pcs, and it never fails. Hopefully it works on MPCs, too! Most difficulties aren't worth arguing with, it's quicker to backup files, format+reinstall, then replace backed up files. The order is a lil different on the MPC, because you want to restore the OS before you format, because you want the jjos to format your drive, not Windows or AKAI.
OK so your pc can see the hdd? If so, copy the MPC hdd's entire contents into a folder on your pc (to back it up) RIGHT NOW. Then, no matter what the deal is, you won't lose your work/sounds.
When that is done, re-install your OS. Here are the instructions:
A) You're switching over from an AKAI OS to any JJ-OS or
B) You're Updating from previous JJ-OS builds.
In Case A, the OS has got to be installed from the CF Card, because the AKAI OS cannot open .bin and .os2 files! Put the CF card with the OS file in the MPC. Turn it off. Next, hold down the [WINDOW] button and switch the unit back on... follow the instructions on screen to install the new OS. After JJ-OS is installed, you can open .bin or .os2 files from the Load Browser. The CF Card is not needed for later updating.
In Case B, just put the OS-File on the HD or CF Card and execute it from the Load screen. After the installation is done, Restart your MPC and you're good to go.
Now format your MPC's hdd. Press (MODE) then 2(LOAD). You'll see a space that says HARD DISK, INTERNAL, or MEMORY CARD. Use the arrow keys to move to that space and highlight it (if it's not already) Then, use your jog wheel to change it to HARD DISK (if it doesn't say it already). You'll notice the window key lights up. Press it. On 4.99j, press F2 to format your hdd.
When that's done, re-mount your MPC to your pc, then copy all your backup files
back onto your MPC.
If
that don't fix it, I need more clues.
