Maybe it would be a great idea if someone made a sequence with progam/samples that shows the bugs.
It could work both as a tester for others to see whether they have the bugs or not, and it could work as a tester for AKAI, so they can make the bugs disappear.
Who has the experience, skill, passion and time?

i'd send this to japan

Hi I like my mpc1000 very much but seems to be that the os have to get better.

Amongst a lot of users (www.mpc-forums.com) there are a few problems like these:

- got a song with 2 drumloops in it. 1 at track 1 and the 2e at track 2. On playback it works fine untill i mute the tracks. when muting track 2 track 1 also mutes and vice versa.

- I have written a couple tracks, but during the process I noticed that as my mpc was repeating a sequence, at random times- certain samples would not play.

- i had noticed that sometimes simple patterns like a straight 16th note high hat line would not sound the same everytime. so i recorded the same beat into pro tools 5 times and compared the waves and i was right, the waves i recorded looked noticably different each time, just like i was hearing it.

If I see the bugfix list of the mpc4000 than i can see you guys work really hard on that machine. Can you also manage progress for the mpc1000.

With regards,

It happens every now and then that a sample won't play....MPC packs a lot of power for the buck....be grateful that this is just a minor annoyance....you can stop the pads from triggering the sample (multiple times by changing it from poly to mono!......Toilet

Thanks Akai, you could have easily made the mpc 1000 more disfunctional... perhaps having it not even power up out of the box. God bless you for only annoying us with an unpredictable bug that causes things that I programmed and intended to randomly not happen. Thanks again for the reassuring response that reflects the integrity of your ethics.

The MpC 1000 is awesome for the money .......I would suggest buying some "Kleenex" with the money u saved by purchasing the 1000....I do not work for AKAI but I just "love thier products"....if a screw up happens every now and then ,dont fret my friends...just make a new "banger" and pass it along to your friends.....................................................................................Toilet

and if you are performing live and a sample that is integral to your chorus doesn't play, you can really sound awkward.

I have a question: Are a lot of people here spellbound by the "AKAI" name? I mean, does that word mean automatic dopeness? I think that enabling a business entity to sell a faulty product that does not do what it says it does is sad. Why defend it? A reliable sequencer.... that plays what you program....
Isn't that what you expect?
It has a bug. That has now been established. Some say that they don't have it (that even makes me more nervous). Some who have it, feel obligated to deal with it... sad.
Whatever. I have had many sampling drum machines. When it comes down to it, I feel more comfortable performing live with a ten year old SP1200 than the mpc1000- the latest in technology.
Doesn't anyone see it?
Am I the only one?
I guess that I will find a box of Kleenex and cry my brains out.
Sad newbies

bachypam, i know exactly what you are talking about. the problems i have with my 1000 as opposed to the 2000 i traded in for it (i needed the portability) are debilitating, and people who defend the machines flaws are the reason that companies like AKAI can get away with releaseing products that they know have problems. if your MPC doesnt have any problems or you can live with the ones you know it does have then great, but for those of us who bought the machine in good faith for its "legendary groove and timing" only to find it unreliable, it isnt a matter of just making another "banger" for our friends, its a matter of loosing work and gigs. but its nice to know that there are people out there ready to defend akai rather then other musicians, thats what we need more mcdonalds music from people who would go to bat for a company before a muso,...thanks for your support brothers.

bachypham wrote:I have an idea, let's make sure that this thread stays on the front page of this forum until it is resolved. I do not want Akai to make money off of a faulty product. It was embarrassing for me to go back to Guitar Center twice to return a brand new product. They have not treated me the same since. I feel that this problem is absolutely retarded. They have been aware of it for a while and did not address it in their last OS update... something seems fishy here. You would also think that someone at Akai would be aware of this forum, probably the most comprehensive mpc resource. They are totally ignoring their customers. That is whack. I have been to many other "much smaller" yahoogroups for different instruments that have a representative or representatives from the respective company keeping people informed... the decent thing to do. Akai have been around for a long time and they have gained a good product reputation and a lousy customer service one. We all have the internet now and they can't be pulling the same **** anymore. Make sure that this thread stays at the top. Don't buy their **** until it works. Look at how fired up I am getting over a product I do not own and am not willing to support.

no doubt im disgusted at akai for even letting theese things leave the factory the way they were, and im even more disgusted at the fact that that they havent done jack shlt about it . the 1.05 os was supose to fix the clickings and i still get it time to time ,the mpc 1k is a lot of things its ill its portable its got great features but the number one word that comes to mind when i think of the mpc1k is unreliable, im glad im using it as a hobbyist and not a full time musician cuz id prolly be out a lot of money, they need to fix the bugs add extra features and have a female akai staff member come to my house and blow me to make everything square

http://www.petitiononline.com/
- since I havent got problems so far (would like some update in the sequence-editing though) - I wont start the petition.
I think AKAI is just to BIG a company.
I have an Access Virus Synth. In the forum: http://www.ampfea.org/mailman/listinfo/access-list, people from Access often join with constructive help, feedback and following updates. They know that the end-user is THE important ressource. AKAI could learn a lot from this and similar companys!
