shit doesn't always have to have a hook

im listening to a mobb deep track right for example, the beat is dope, for a hook all you could be doing is putting a simple cut and scratch in there, or take out the sample so you just hear the drums. you don't always need a hook nowhutimsayin?

Just b/c u dont need it, doesnt mean u should always not put in 1. I agree Mobb got some ill beats, with little bit added in during the chorus. But its never good to jus go one way nah mean

hooks isn't what challenges me, its the damn intros, outros and transitions,

My rappers are always like, "yo, where's the hook gonna be?"

and i'm like " i don't need a f-ing hook on this beat!"

and their like, "shudup, we know its because you are too lazy to make a hook!"

and i'm like, " yeah, you're right. you are all right"

and then i start sobbing and send everyone home.

unless youre making some art music cråp or some indie bul1sh1t you need a hook. the hook is the reason a song exists.

maybe the hook doesnt have to come from the music, it can come from the vocal (duh) or from scratches or whatever. but there's gotta be a hook somewhere if you want a listener to remember what youve done.

classical music, pop, hip hop, whatever. always gotta have a hook.
