Just pulled out my 4k after almost 2 years

booted right up, I loaded up some old tracks and they all play perfectly, except the parts that reference external modules that I no longer have lol.

It was cool to listen to some of the tracks I forgot about

thing is a monster, everything still functions like it should

Yup. I have enjoyed using the classic 2k, 1k w/jjos1&2, and 500 over the years but I have also moved on to Maschine. Not hating on MPCs at all but in my opinion Akai has just been rehashing on the original Roger Linn's design and riding on the success of the brand name reputation it got them for too long instead of innovating and keeping up with the times. Luckily, Native Instruments saw what needed to be done to bring the MPC into the new millennium.

Saintjoe all the best on your music and gear. I purchased one also but I still work with my 4k too. I just use both in my studio.

It's a new Reality TV show where one man is determined to make every MP owner feel they should switch to Maschine.
It basically shows how day after day he post in every thread he can about how great Maschine is, regardless the subject.

Not really sure why the Mods let it continue but that's on them.
The only resolve we have is to change the station so his post don't show up in the broadcast system by using the FOE option.

Akai peeped in to see just how many post were spammed and have now decided to step their game up.
From now on all the MPCs will have new model numbers;
MPSC500
MPSC1000
MPSC2500se
MPSC5000

They said changing the spelling was as close to Maschine as they wanted to get.

This thread is about a long-time MPC4000 user who doesn't use it anymore because he has found a MPC killer in Maschine and is going to sell his MPC4000 because of it. I very much agree with his assessment so I was just chiming in.

I've never said every MPC user should switch to Maschine. I couldn't care less about that. But since there's been so many misconceptions about what Maschine is I am here to help fellow MPC users who may benefit from using Maschine whether to replace their MPC with or to use them together.

The truth is that many of you here couldn't live with the idea that MPC has very strong competition and that many MPC users have moved on to Maschine, so instead of discussing what healthy competition there is for MPC (which is a GOOD thing for MPC lovers)

It is based off an MPC and still has more latency.

What are you on about? Of course it is "not an MPC". It is much more than a MPC as it goes beyond it in ways Akai could never have imagined.

I don't notice any latency with Maschine. To say that Maschine has "more latency" shows that you're not familiar with what latency actually is. Latency is a factor of your CPU speed/efficiency, and how good your audio interface is. It has nothing to do with Maschine. It's 2010. There's no excuse anymore to be worried about latency.
