Entry level compressor?

yo i got the ART Pro VLA II with upgraded tubes... it's not as good as people say. its OK. cool on vocals. not good on overall mix as it muffles the sound and kills the top end (in a bad way). if i had to do it over i would save more and get something mo betta.

I still have a thing for the Alesis 3630 - after all these years, I find myself going back to it time and again.

Alesis 3630. Been using them since the 90's no extra fancy hype, no rediculous features you don't need. Just a straight up compressor. And a damn good one at that

yeah, I got a 3630 here too. classic, and only around $100. I tend to use more plugin compression for mastering jobs I take on tho. If I were going to drop $ on a compressor, I would save up longer and get something that would actually be worth the extra $$ like a Distressor.

I don`t know what comp at $500 is going to be 5 times better than the 3630 though, right. Then again, a pair of distressors probably won`t be 20 x better either--but still I want them. I think I`m going to pick up a Focusrite liquid mix for my comp&EQ needs...

FMR RNC Its been around for a while, still cheap, and still gets great reviews.

Ive never played with one, so ya know... you gotta do your homework I guess.

If ya want to put some stuff thrugh your DAW then Focusrite LiquidMix 32 its a really cool thing...

Its firewire joint that sits in your DAW like a plug-in and so it dosn't matter what interface you've got it will work just fine:)

It works as a plug-in so you can apply any off them vintage EQ and Compressors when you've traced you signal to your Audio software lets say ProTools or Cubase or what ever you like to use...you get me?
The box it self it has DSP processor so your PC/Laptop/Mac it's burden free if you now what I mean??? (It’s not using your CPU)
It's also to control your effects, see all gain and compression levels on the display and to have sort of Hands-on felling...
It’s a very useful and easy to use tool...but you need FireWire connector in your computer.

Yes you are right, the difference its in number effects/channels ratio
(however you can get expantion card for them two...) and as you can see 32 has LCD display...
