can someone experienced (maybe comin' from normal os2) explain with some depth the loop edit feature please?

for instance, when i go into loop edit , whenever i press just ONE pad from the bottom row, the pattern goes silent till next bar....then it goes normally on, is this a bug or a feature? i noticed that if , for instance, i press more than just one pad this doesnt happen.

and...can i only loop a 1 bar pattern or there is some way to have more than 16 steps playn?

anyway a really cool feature to jam with other instruments\musicians, especially in the elektro\techno field.

That seems to be a bug. Would you mind reporting it? I didnt look into this feature too much, so i didnt pinpoint when the sound was cutting out and when not.

Onthe other topic, i´d prefer if it played the whole sequence and u could use the left/right cursor to do the whole seq xox-style.

That would still loop only 1 bar...

true, but if you only have 16 pads how many bars are you expecting to loop? a 909/908 etc only have 16 steps too

Like i said, would be nice if you could switch between the bars while the whole sequence is playing. Just like on the electribes.

sorry, never seen the electribe in action but i'm all for handy features if i'm missing out on something

are you meaning that you can add say 4 kicks to a bar, but those kicks would also be added to multiple other bars to save you having to do them all (bars) individually?

That wouldnt make much sense as its the same as looping bar 1.
On the Electribes you have the 16 steps (1Bar) but the sequence can be as long as 4 bars. Two more buttons (iirc, its been a while) enable you to switch the bar to edit.

i think i'm being a bit thick here but can you help me understand:

how is that different from the JJOS? i can have a sequence of any length and still run loopedit on any bar that i choose. what difference is it if "the sequence can be as long as 4 bars"

I'm not sure how it works in JJOSXL but on the electribes each bar can have a different pattern of 16 beats, and you loop all 4 bars, not a single bar

Code: Select allx...x...x...x...
x...x...x...x...
x...x.x.x...x.x.
x...x.x.x...x.x.
then repeat

Edit: and it's 8 bars on the newer electribes not 4, you switch between them with the < and > select keys, the same ones used to change keyboard octave

Nah, they both have 64 steps per sequence.

It would be cool if the A; B; C & D buttons could be used to go the other sequences so that 64 steps could be possible.

is the part of the sequence that loops set by this?

sorry if that's a dumb question, I only have JJOS1 installed and only know the later versions from trying to work out if I need their features

No, this is the regular loop. Loop edit loops the bar the cursor was in when activated.
