As vinyl_junkie says above (nice tip, thanks!) you can adjust the sampling rate (44kHz or 22kHz) but that gives a different effect to adjusting bit depth. On my 3000xl the sample rate is set in the bandwidth field (bandwidth 10kHz samples at 22kHz and bandwidth 20kHz samples at 44kHz)
