I've been happy with version 2 for quite some time now, and with the recent updates that include Loop Edit in 16 pad mode... It's all gravy. Thing is, Loop Edit was just added to 2XL. The lack of this function was the main feature that made me stick with regular version 2. I know that there are a few other die hard version 2 users on this forum, and that's who I really want to hear from. (Anyone else is welcome to chime in of course)
Here are a few things that are in Ver. 2 that are not in XL.
1. -In the Trim screen, the loop off, loop on, and loop alternate can be toggled through with the F4 button. In Xl, you can still use Alternate loop, but you have to turn the loop on and move to the arrows and switch to alternate. No big deal, just a pain in the but when editing a large group of samples.
2. -The Pattern editer in XL, found in the loop edit mode under F3 View, does not have the tune or chop option. I never did use the chop option here, but tune is a great feature. I imagine it was probably removed because it can now be done differently with the arpeggiater. (Also no longer found by Mode Pad 11, which I find kind of odd since it just brings you to Program mode.)
3. There is no Extra Play Mode in XL.
Right now this is all I can think of. After working with XL for just a few hours, it does seem just a bit more querky. For example, the screen kind of fades out real quickly at times in Trim mode, but I just think that's from stuffing SO much into this sucker! Any major losses with XL? The list I gave are just a few things that I found altered the way I work. These are just observations, not complaints, by the way. As I said, I was very happy with regular version 2, but if I can adjust my workflow just a bit, I may just end up sticking with XL... Please let me know what else I'm forgetting about. Praise JJ!
