I'm not selling anything. I'm just telling it like it is and some people just can't be open to the idea that something better may exist depending on what you need. Instead, people have been resorting to personal attacks on me, trying to downplay Maschine's abilities, sabotaging this thread by bombing it with large images, accusing me of being a "salesman"...etc.

@ emptysea

I made point of the fact that MPC's are superior when it comes to latency. Not that they are a superior maschine.

Am I meant to get offended when you have a dig at my setup? LOl

What are you? PC Geek or musician.

The fact is that a substantial amount of people here probably have a less superior computer set up to me. Do they need to go out and spend thousands on a computer setup so they can get latency NEARLY as good as an MPC while using Maschine?

Knickers in a knot. Give me a break man.

I OWN a Maschine and I like it, just as I like Ableton. I make equal beats on Ableton and the MPC. Does that mean I am offended that Ableton might be better than an MPC. I don't think like that bruh.

You are misinterpreting me and you still can't admit that MPC's have better latency = irrational.

The only time you started mentioning people being happy with their chosen tool is after I threw it at you in the original Maschine thread.

I don't care that Maschine is being recommended but you appear to have an agenda that is bordeing on fanaticism.

Get down off the soapbox, take a deep breath and go make some beats fella. People (read: plural) are tiring of your rants or should I say sales pitches. BORING.

That's a fact, huh? Probably? I see...

Nope. Latency is not an issue for Maschine just as latency is no longer an issue for people using software setups nowadays.

while latency is much MUCH less of an issue these days compared to a few years ago... systems do vary and same goes with latency. My up to date laptop has much more latency than one of my desktop setups... (when it comes to controllers)

it depends. there are many variables to computer latency it is impossible to generalize that way. Some people still have the issue, some people dont. Fact is though, even if it is by a millisecond or a few... mpcs do have less.

A guy proved it here not too long ago using some sort of analyzing tool... I forget how he measured it though but he was able to figure out the MS of latency on the mpc and computer.

Anyone who claims to be able to hear the difference between a millisecond or a few needs to have their heads examined.

I'd like to see this proof. Aside from the ridiculousness of testing the latency of MPC and "computer" or the claim that "mpcs do have less" than "computers".

Anyway, this is all very silly. People are using Maschine just fine without having any latency issues and experiencing no noticeable difference compared to MPC. If you have a latency problem with any software, it has to do with your setup and/or you're not setting it up correctly. It has nothing to do with Maschine.

No dude I have seen you posting the same thing in every maschine thread in all forums. Now I understand when people attack cuz I experienced it. But your way of doing it on a mpc forum nevertheless is on a one man mass coversion another what faults a mpc has and doesn't have which is highly subjective to the users. You can win anyone over that way cuz we all work differently and have different workflows and needs.

You made your points so let it be. I personally own a maschine from learning another users workflow by watching. So I still ask you to make a video to show how easy it is to use maschine your way. Show and prove walk the walk don't just talk about it.

You are doing too much. Though I did like how you broke down the think it was the mapping or editing in the mpc studio forum where this thread seems to be headed hint.

Trying to change others is unproductive, but if you show it it may shine the light in others mind to give it a try. People want to decide for themselves what is best not sold on it. Show them make a video if you can in another thread please.

it is silly to complain over a few milliseconds... I was just clarifying the situation.

however, seeing that the maschine uses a USB controller... it can be partially responsible on some set ups sound card could also be also be responsible. As I said, different computers have different issues... you cant really exclude the maschine from being at fault in all systems. If I run maschine on my old k6 with xp pro... I can guarantee you that there will be controller latency when recording into the sequencer (for example).

however keep in mind that is an old system and that is simply the way things were back in the era of that hardware.

on a new computer that came out in the last year or two... you most likely wont notice the latency on the controller end, maybe on the sound end if you have a basic sound card but even then integrated ones these days are not bad at all.

yeah man, I thought it was hardware and was shocked when I first saw the thread here mentioning that there wasn't even a control surface for it. These days with photoshop you can never tell... even hardware pics from manufacturers look the same as bpm did when it was launching. but these companies these days focusing on portability is cool, but someone should for sure go the route of making their surface the size of a mackie 8 bus.

a project mix, an mpd, one of those novation knob control surfaces in one with extra bells and whistles.

my favourite part of the roland mv8000 is the size and spread out buttons on the machine. you got that **** on your desk and it cant be pushed aside.

yeah I really think we'll start seeing stuff like that man. I always felt Maschine was just the beginning, and you'll see more stuff going that route. Imagine Roland putting out an MV with the same hardware pretty much, but it's a controller, and you can run everything from the software on your pc...or even a hybrid where it does both and their software can run on the pc/mac OR you can use it standalone.

Similar stuff from akai, and even some workstation style hybrids from yamaha, korg, roland, kurzweil, etc....man that would be sick.

It will break the limits of the hardware by using computer resources, but still have the rugged and robust feel of hardware.

I'm fantasizing, but I really think we'll see more, I've always looked at Maschine as the starting point for better things.

man, I still haven't 100% mastered the MV with the screen not plugged in. sometimes I know the option exists but I cant find the button for it. that mouse and screen really expanded that machine and put it in front of you nice and easy. I think an update to that would be good... maybe roland could design some sort of software that is more modern looking and runs faster. These days ram is not a limit or costly, they could design a new MV with real components that are up to par. Imagine if the mv was a quadcore with 8 gigs of ram and at least a 512 video card. and sata2 hard drives... that is what I would like. But I dont think roland would invest in having an OS designed for that especially with a multi core cpu... man they should just build a custom unix/linux OS or something.

yeah, that's why I think it will be more of a hybrid thing, having the option to plug your hardware into a pc/mac and take advantage of your computer...

they just need to worry about coding the software, sorta like Maschine....

but with real hardware attached for if you want to "unplug" or to take the load of the computer. Real inputs/outputs, etc.

I'm just dreamin, but I think we'll at least see more hybrid stuff like Maschine.

I think it might even be cool if they released some sort of software that boots off an external hard drive and doesn't use the computer's OS at all... but somehow I doubt anyone would go down that road.

What "same thing" have I posted in every Maschine thread? I started one Maschine thread when it came out and the bitching from Akai fanboys started right away. I've also chimed in on threads that other people started and were already discussing Maschine with relevant info/opinion to each specific thread. Feel free to go have a look and then come back and tell me if the immature attacks on me and accusations of being a "salesman" are warranted or not. I've been mostly ignoring the attacks and offering info on actual relevant discussions on Maschine and will continue to do so.

i dont know, but that head to head between you and mr. 5000 is hilarious.... all we need is mpd mpk ray to come in here taking the bpm side.. hahahaha.

Booorrring...I am on the other hand contemplating selling my imac, motu828, amt8 and mpc2k xl for a MPC 4K....
When I started making music I was using hardware synths/samplers with software sequencers like Cubase on Atari and later Logic on the PC...years later that bored me to hell so got a exciting MPC...loved it but thought man I could do this and that with software so spent a load of money on a computer setup while also keeping my hardware setup and ohh what...I don't like this software malarkey any more, I don't feel comfortable!
MPC just FEELS right...why MPC-4000? It's the don daddy dappa innit lol I still like the 2k a lot though..wonder if I can sell this shitty old imac g5 and crap and scrounge enough cash for a 4k and still keep the 2k lol

Computer heads will never get why we prefer MPC's to product X

It's all about what the USER is comfortable with when will you get that through your stupid head Maschine people..no one gives a s*it about what it can do more or less...it about if YOU the USER is happy about..so what it's a MPC killer..is it? Cos I still don't see them selling as many as Nukai sell manky 1k's lol
Why are you trying to tell people on a Akai forum how great this Native Instruments thing is? It's a Akai MPC forum...where there is a STRONG bias to errrm MPC's like going on a MAC forum saying now the new bla bla bla dell is better and a apple killer or the other way round lol pointless

glad to hear the 4k is still runnin like new 2 yrs after powering it up. my buddy had a 3000 that "has been in a closet for the past 10 years" he bought it and it worked fine from the first sample.

mashine, you get a virus, you shit gets corrupted, your laptop drive breaks.. anything. your mashine is down. not a real instrument in my mind. software never did it for me - too ... fragile or ... soft.
