Boogie comes off so harsh... Internet beef is a greta look for you man... As far as all the sh*t you said...

First of all you got my words and Jigginz twisted... So get your sh*t straight... Second of all I never said you had to do sh*t usin only records (sh*t I sample movies and TV)...

But sampling another current producer is wack... Plain and simple.... So you keep bein lazy and jackin hip-hop to make hip-hop (how dumb does that sound)... I know thats the way hip-hop started right... Oh wait NO it didn't...

There are no rules you're right, but maybe their should be so we could weed out the lazy re-gurgitators from producers who put in their work...

"First of all you got my words and Jigginz twisted... So get your sh*t straight..."

Truth!

Truth!

Boogie, i aint got no beef with you, neither has Matiks so put your sword down!!

This is a good sign, we need debate, it keeps the game sharp and forces producers to push themselves further!!

No debate....Hip Hop falls, but i can't see that!!

Debate on...........

Sampling is about discovering sound and expressing yourself through the manipulation of sound.

People that jack other recent producers beats are killing sampling, it's people with your attitude that cause all the law suits.

Make no mistake about it, what you do is not art!!
Nor is it self expression.

If you set out to make a hip hop beat and you take a kick from Dre. and snare from Kanye or whereever, then of course you are going to make a great beat. But if you are honest with yourself you are about as far from hip hop you can get, you are just children and have a lot of growing up to do, you have absolutely no understanding of hip hop or it's culture.

But if it's about money thats a diferent story, but be honest about it.

I'm confused about your stance... Are you sayin that sampling is wrong and is not self expression...

Or are you sayin that sampling Dre and Kanye is not self expression...

If the latter is what you were going for, Then I agree with you...

For me it's about the self-expression and as I said in another post... Jackin hip-hop to make hip-hop is wack... I think that's what you were sayin though I was kinda confused on your standpoint...

The point is, the hard work has been done....no artist expression whatsoever!!

if you take a snare from Kanye isnt that the same as taking a snare from dre?

yup.

I'm halfway through the article, and damn, he keeps saying he adhere';s to the code and the ethics of sampling, then he says he even jacked JayDee's drums from his instrumentals.

Also, the title of the new soul brother number one is BS. Even the funny face he put on for the cover seems so damn fake and full of himself. He keeps saying he used to be shyt that he clearly still very much is.

Lets clear the air and let the bright lights shine through..... First things first, I don't know you to even have a problem with you.... Thats just insane....If it's your opinion I can't speak rationally, show me the proof....I'd LOVE TO SEE IT.....If you can't take peoples TRUE comments on the internet, how you gonna take the criticisms in real life?? Yes, I said "elitist f@g" because thats exactly how you paint yourself...."real Hiphop" and " true artists" are words that f@ggot elistists say to others when they don't like a particular type of music...You may dislike music by YingYang or Lil Jon or Missy or Swizz Beats, but how can people say they aren't "true" artists?? Because they don't make the beats YOU like?? Then I guess Premier and RZA aren't true artists because theres hordes of people who don't like thier sound....Michael Jackson isn't a real artist because he doesn't make his own beats... You see how stupid that sounds......You judge someone because of where or how they get thier sounds.... Now, how lame is that?? ATTENTION MPCers..... In order to be a true artist, you MUST use records, and those records have to be AT LEAST 25 years old.... Said records need a minimum of 4 scratches, deep or light, it doesn't matter as long as you can see it, your sound has to be "grimy", you can't have ANY commercial appeal, you can't make a dance track, no RnB singers on hooks, B-Boys must be able to break to it...If more than 300 people like the song, trash it, it has to be unknown to be good...etc etc...

lol Diggers diggers.... noBODY gives a fvck about that shcit EXCEPT djs...Do you think Quincy Jones gave a schit where his players got thier instruments?? Or do you think he was more concerned with the sound they put out??? Now tell me this guy, how do YOU know that a producer who just sampled a drum kick from last weeks hottest selling album hasn't freaked in his own way??? You been in the studio with those guys?? Post some video man, I'd love to see it...
I'm grown and know how to get my point across, thats why you came with your reply since "I wasn't worthy of one"....and btw, jigginz comment was puro masa.....Just because you THINK you know what producers are doing in thier studio because of a magazine interview, just remember that a magician NEVER TELLS his secrets...It could be Primo or Pete Rock who are sampling snares and kicks from Jagged Edge and Ginuwine....you never know........You elitists are corny as fvck with your "rules" on what can be sampled and from where.....

if the pioneers of Hiphop didn't have any type of imagination, we'd still be knee deep in Power Ballads.......

You chumps put limits on yourself and restrict yourselves from being an artist.......

T R U E A R T I S T S have NO boundaries..........It's why they are artists because they think OUTSIDE OF THE BOX........... Be square playboy......
co-sign!!!! They don't understand Boogie, to be real some of you just sound like haters your beats prolly ain't sh!t and your just mad at anyone selling their records, You can be a digger and be hot, I fux with DJ Premier and 45 King so on, but that don't mean I sit and hate on Lil John or David Banner, Lil John is more original than most you people talking sh!t how am I gonna be mad at him for getting paid, you should set your mind on how you could achieve that success, and if you wanna stay underground fine, do you, but you don't have to take away from the merits of other artists

I'll add that Lil Jon is AT LEAST more creative than a million and one Premier clones.....

i love how everyone makes these arguments like so gospel. Like cats sit home and loose sleep bout lil jon? its just opinions and talk on this board. I feel that jackin drums off a Pink record, or just blazes .mp3, is stragiht gay. thats all. I dont sit home and cry myself to sleep bout lil jon usin presets, or hip hop aint real no more. **** hatin. Its just an opinion. Cats act like its a big moral issue.

By elmacaco Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:24 pm
It's about how you judge skill, not popularity. Some popular cats are skilled, others fake the funk and jack straight crap.

you can put me on a deserted island with one partidge family record and I'll make beats till my beard is draggin in the sand.

these are not artificial limitations, they are a kind of respect among peers and a certain level of pride in your own work. It's just shameless to sample current producers because it is an admission of your own inability to get your drums as good as theirs using the same techniques.

I don't lose sleep because of any producer, nor do I base my methods on those of others past, I just know what is right and wrong, and I don't care who does what, it still doesn't make it right.

.

see, this is what you guys ain't understanding.... who says they aren't tweaking the drums to thier appeal??? I can take a kick right from the radio right now and make it completely different... How is that so hard for people to comprehend??

Rappers Delight should be discounted because it came from basically the same time as the original.....

By elmacaco Sun Aug 29, 2004 11:33 pm
Well then why can't you take a kick off anything else and make it your own? If it is so important to take the recent stuff, then obviously you aren't making it as your own as you think.
