I've had a pair since 2001 about. They do overcompensate the high and low end alot, but I've gotten used to it. I also like that they don't fatigue my ears that quickly. I used to use them for 7-12hrs a day back before I had any studio monitors(roughly 3yrs - I don't recommend that at all, but you do what you have to sometimes  ).

The ear fatigue is the worst thing about them.

poundaproblem wrote:Another thing that almost everyone overlooks is the cleanliness of their inner ears. Qtips are big no no and a peroxide cleaning every 6 months or so does wonders.

explain that to me as if I were an 8 year old.

Wax buildup. As strange as it sounds you would be surprised how much it builds up. The ear drum is pretty sensitive so a thick wall of wax will definitely alter how you hear things. Using Qtips does nothing to clean out the inner ear, it just pushes it in further causing a nasty little wall of wax. So every 6 months to a year you can use peroxide to loosen it up and clean it out. Try a little test. Take a pair of headphones and cut a few pieces of paper to put over one and leave the other as is. Play some music low thru them. You will notice how much the highs are affected. Now just imagine ears loaded up. Sure it doesnt seem like much because mid and low range audio dont have much trouble passing thru but highs do and once you ruin one set of frequencies you will just be struggling to mix the rest correctly. If you go to an ENT doctor and have your ears cleaned you will walk out of the office noticing the entire world is considerably louder. The ears are often overlooked for audio quality.

i've got a pair [my 2nd one]. they're very well built for the price... i used my first set for close to 10 years. they're great for listening to music on... but for making beats/mixing i prefer my sennheiser hd280s since, as mentioned, the sonys definitely add bass to whatever your listening to...

yo pound.. do you just pour a bit of pure peroxide down your ear canal or do you water it down first? i've been wanting to get my ears cleaned with one of those water pump things that the ENT doctors have for some time now.

My mom's an RN(registered nurse) and I got my ears pumped out with that thing about 6 months ago. After my ears recovered from the feeling of warm water being shot into my ears(not pleasant  ) I could hear alot better, well more clearly.
