Do I need a pre-amp for my TT?

Now that the questions have been answered (with no help from me ) how big are these in weight and dimensions compared to the Technics 1200s? The weight looks to be around 10kg (22-30lbs). I've been wanting to put my Technics pair in storage and get another newer TT just for sampling. This looks to have a lot of options. What's the build quality like?

I like it but its my first TT ever so I don't have much comparison. Its pretty heavy, but I like that as it feels pretty sturdy. Its about 2 feet by 2 feet so pretty large.
