ortofon or shure

hi,i need to replace my cartdrige for sampling.i on om pro since 10 years,but i ask myself about the shure m44.i want dj cartdrige no hifi.do you think shure is soundin better??thanxx

I'd go with the Ortofon.

I've been using Ortofon Concorde DJ Pro-S and since the needle got a bit worn, I decided to try the M44-7. Here's my thoughts: The sound is more or less the same, there aren't any major differences for me, except that Shure is signifficantly louder. It has better tracktion than the Ortofon, BUT it's really vulerable to any dirt and there are more clicks and pops than on the Pro-S. If you clean the record really well it plays great. Overall I think I like the Ortofon a bit more.

I've had WL and and Arkiv, both are real nice. but if I had to choose one arkiv.

I was doing some comparisons on the same thing; I got a pair of Ortofon Concorde S on the comeup but the stylus are pretty f'ed I also have an old pair of Stanton Discmasters that I liked pretty good, but they need new stylus as well.

My dilemma is whether to get the $30-$60 each replacement needles for the Concordes or I can find some replacements for the discmasters for pretty cheap cause they have been disontinued and are getting cleared out. OR I have always heard the good stuff about the Shure's and cartridge and all would only be a little more than the ortofon replacement stylus. But I want a decent needle for both scratching and sampling, and I hear the loudness/crackle, etc. from Shure isn't as ideal for sampling.

Any suggestions or preferences from those who have tried these needles? I guess people have posted someof this info already but just asking more specifically to my situation...

Get a older Stanton Groovemaster and you'll be fine .

I use Ortofon DJ S on my technics. Although I hate to admit it, I actually use my Numark Ns7 more frequently these days.
