problems with mpc screen

my lcd screen lights up green when it turns on, and then when it loads up there's a black shade over the screen.
I've tried changing the tint, it does nothing.
I use a regular compact flash card for a camera.
It works fine as far as saving my stuff, but could this have a negative effect on my mpc?
any ideas on how I can fix this?

when you say "black shade" do you mean like an actual discoloration or just that the pixels in the background that aren't being used can be seen slightly? because if you mean the latter, that's the case with any screen...

also, when you say you tried changing the tint... you held down STOP and turned the DATA wheel? or are you using the AKAI OS? because i think it was a different keystroke for the AKAI one...

and as far as the compact flash cards are concerned... i believe just about any brand should work... most compact flash cards are aimed for the camera market but work with pretty much any flash card reader/writer.
