When you're assiging a sample to a zone, do you have to set the low and high with the knobs, or can you set it by tapping the pads?

So if you use Maschine* to make dope beats, then that means Maschine* is dope? And if you use Maschine* to make wack beats, then that means Maschine* is wack? No, then that means the man behind Maschine* is dope or wack.

So attaching a monitor to standalone hardware gives you power of a DAW?

well you know, it may not be as powerful as some of todays DAWs... but the MV basically is a DAW when it comes down to it.. O.o

I mean, 24 track digital mixer, 128 midi tracks, 8 audio tracks... FX, piano roll, and all that other stuff kind of puts it in that category.

But your reply had me laughing up though... haha making it seem like he was saying that a computer screen is the defining factor that makes it a DAW.. lol

the mv is for sure a beast and you can make some serious heat on it but you can also make heat on an mpc 60 or an sp303.

As far as I know you can't use the pads to do this.

- Attaching a monitor to a standalone digital audio workstation (DAW) enhances an already powerful tool.
- You can drag and drop an MPC audio track or sequence into a DAW. You do this in USB mode. In this mode, the MPCs hard drive will appear on your desk top. You can drag and drop midi or audio files into your DAW. In fact, you can drag and drop any MIDI or audio file stored on your computer into a DAW.
- Maschine's effects are not superior to the effects in the leading DAWs. Using an MPC is more fun than a hardware controller and software. NI has to update the hardware and software to truly get what people love about MPCs. It is not there yet but is coming along. There is no question about it. And again, there are numerous functions that are easier and faster to use with a mouse.
- Using Maschine to sequence software or other hardware is no more a single environment than an MPC. Recording a guitar into a DAW is not an issue. The same goes for an MPC. Far more people use an MPC than Maschine. Your companies job is to continue to improve the OS to gain business from MPC users.
- MPC 5000 can send MIDI CCs messages to use with external hardware or software. Using mute and solo of sounds on an MPC is awesome and intuitive. While the sequencer is playing, you can quickly enter the Pad/Track mute menu with the press of a button. Flawlessly....
- I believe its faster to scroll through files using a keyboard and/or mouse. Having Kore-style browsing is not a great selling point for me.
- When using an MPC, go to Program, press a pad you want to edit, then dial in the pitch. Its as simple as that. The pitch is changed immediately. In Trim, there is offline pitchshifting. When using the JJ OS, you can use its real-time pitchshift when sampling.
- I keep bringing up DAWs because nearly everyone uses one. NI will have to come up with a function that is new and creative not just re-hash what is already available. Regarding MPCs, efficent workflow is a major strength. This is why numerous companies continue to duplicate it. NI is close but still has work to do.
- All the lastest MPCs can sample while the sequencer is playing. Maschine's sampling in sync with the tempo is not impressive especially since you can do it with any DAW..yes, I said it.
- JJ OS non-destructive chop and zooming is probably its most impressive feature. but don't take my word for it. Read around the forums. This was among the most requested features for an MPC for quite some time. NI should do something similar.
- The two little LCDs are not impressive. Ergonomically they are terrible. They should be adjustable for easier viewing. In this regard, a computer monitor is mos def needed. As far as MIDI controllers, every major DAW on the market has made it possible to assign any major function to a command that can be assigned and triggered from a controller.
- Mashine's grid editing/recording is not superior to the latest MPCs especially the MPC 5000. If you believe its much better, give us an example or post a link. We already know what an MPC can do. You have to do a better job at selling it.

Looking forward to hearing more about Maschine. You still haven't done a great job of selling it. Let me know when it gets to OS 2.0 and its hardware is upgraded.

Thanks.

Respectfully,

MPC-user

I remember when Jahrome called the mpc 1000 a toy and that he wouldn't support JJ OS...funny how times change. Based on this I fully expect him to be Maschine-based within six months, but still posting long lists about what it should have, probably on the NI board

Maybe you got my post mixed up, because I totally believe you. Its the man not the piece of gear you use. Maschine is prob great for some people and very usefull, but only thing Emptysea does is dik ride it & downgrade MPCs, and show ignorance to how other people work, make music, and probably make better music then him. Which Is why I want him to put his words into practice. I don't care if he's promoting a damn tin can, he sounds like a plant, a puppet, and all this talk he does I want to see it put into place, so it means something. If he REALLY wants people to buy the maschine too, then it would be smart of him to post some dope beats/tracks, right?

Thanks gertie. :)

Scope On The SP was made with my SP12 Turbo btw. I'll wake it up out of its winter sleep for the next beat battle at the SP1200 forum. 8)

True, I remember when he defended the MPC 5000 to the death, and now his tool box is 1000 wtf?? I cant take that man seriously anymore.

The Akai MPC 1000 was a toy with cheap pads until Akai redesigned the pad sensors and JJ gave the OS all the features of the far superior Akai MPC 2500. The JJ OS has improved significantly over the years, yet still has issues that need to be ironed out...just like the official OS of the latest MPCs. The MPC 5000 and MPC 2500 are the best MPCs ever made for my needs. However, I wrote numerous threads on what I felt they needed in their OS. Both Akai and JJ added many of these features. I hope Akai continues to improve the OS or even release an MPC 5000XL or 6000 and incorporate many of the additional functions I wrote about over the years (like import patch scripts). I want the same thing for N.I. as a previous user of Kontakt 3 and Kore 2 and a current user of Battery 3. Based off of user feedback, these products have been significantly improved. From an MPC user perspective, Maschine has a way to go. But if NI employees (emptysea  ) would take the feedback here and get it to the folks that can make it happen, it will be an amazing product. NI has done some of this already. Chopping samples was terrible when it was released. OS 1.5 improved on this. JJ style and/or even Roland MV/Fantom G styled chopping would really take it to another level.

yeah,it must be nice to have a company that is constantly updating.no variety tho.just one maschine and its software(in the classical sense)ok,so what?modern life, modern machinery.eventually well all be one functioning organism.until then ill use what i want and not maschine monotheism!!!OK **** OK!!!!!!
