..i highly recommend you use this website to count the BPM of the original song

you just tap a key on your keyboard, it lets you do it as many times as you want and it just averages out the bpm between all your taps. ive heard too many remixes where the beat is sick but the timing sucks.. so if you havent tried this site yet definitely check it out.

in the mpc i had, it averaged it out in no more than like 4 taps. any more than that and it just reset itself, this website is more accurate.. but maybe thats just the mpc500?

on the mpc1000 you can choose how many taps you want it to use. the default is four

Get a calculator if you want to be deadly accurate. I think there's an old casiotone keyboard with a calculator on, so you could double up.

Length of loop divided by beats in loop...

(so 4 second loop divided by 8 beats would give you 0.5)

Divide 60 by this new number

60 / 0.5 = 120

That's your bpm.

Id rather use my MPC for that


That website could get the job done aswell though

my 4k is not to0 accurate.im used to tap tempo,so it varies.a REAL producer will be able to calculate naturally down to the nearest quark photon nano byte.not.

I've used that site for BPM, I've used my MPC, my KP3, I've even got a program installed on my phone that calculates BPM via tapping.

I have it and use it once in a while... not much lately though because tap tempo seems to be a feature every music product has these days.

Loop the audio where it repeats itself andf select the bar start and end times and adjust the tempo until it loops perfectly.

Otherwise, go down the calc route but TBH I don't really see the point as doing it yourself is far more educational and helpful in the long run.
Imagine being in a studio with some decent producer and he asks 'hey dude, what do you reckon the bpm of that loop is?'
'I dunno man, let me load up that website....'
