Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hey,

Couple of questions.

I just bagged a 4k and I really like it so far. I wondered into my local PC shop and found 2 x 256mb ram upgrades for €1 each. The dude in the shop tried to talk me out of buying it as it was as old as the hills. LAMO

Anyway my otherwise mint MPC 4000, Q5 slider is like a second micky on a randy dog. Is it easy to replace and in the mean time is there any way of assigning Q6 to the mixer?

Also as my mpc did not come with a CD drive and they are not available locally can I wip a DVD writer out of an old pc and stick it in? (the MPC)

Can you assign more than one sound to a single pad and switch using velocity?

Can two sounds be triggered from the same pad at the same time.

Anyone get the USB driver working on W7 64bit?

Are the pad sensors that come from MPCstuff as good as the Akai ones? I am thinking of getting a couple of spare parts when I order the slider pot.

Can sombody link the service manual and the origional CD that came with the 4k as I have neither.

Peace and thanks and for some of the above questions a Y or N will do but not a RTFM as I am half blind and cant read on screen and dont have a hard copy. Thats why I like the MPC so much. Its tactile and does not have any touchscreeens.

Any help with the other questions appreciated. Thanks

i can only speak to the sensor arrays from mpcstuff.com, i put a new one in my old mpc2kxl and it was great and the directions and instructional video was helpful (if you need it).
i only have nice things to say about mpc-stuff.com,
