Anyone have multiple MPCs and why

I've got the 500 and in the times where I need it on the go I thank God I have it, but every time I visit Guitar Center I can't stop messing with the 1000...loving the feel of the pads, and most of all the screen and the bliss of seeing a waveform and experiencing the ease of slicing. I really want one, but I'd almost feel guilty having 2 MPCs. How many do you have and why?

I have the 500 and 2500 just sold my 2000XL. I mainly use my 500 while I'm on the road for work. Use the 2500 in the home studio. I just love the fact I can take my 500 anywhere and work on tracks.

It seems I have this problem with mpc's too. Ive had up to three at a time and each had their own things I liked about them. Example, 3k's sound is different than the 2kxl even though they are both 16 bit..

It's a thing we do man. If you like it and have the money for it buy it. I try to buy low, so I can get out from under it if I need to.

I have a bunch around so I never get bored... I always start from scratch... records...

sometimes I sample into 8 bit gear, some times I sample into protools first.

Its more about the options you have at your disposal, more than having more gear around.

they all sound different and do different things.

It never hurts to have two or more mpc's if you need them. Sometimes katz go beyond the scope of using just one because of the complexity of the compositions they work with.

MPC 60, MPC 3000, MPC 2000XL, MPC 2500

Next up is the MPC 4000. The only MPC I haven't tried yet.


It's true. They all have their own sound, swing and workflow. They all have different features too.

I got love for all the MPC's. I also got love for the Ensoniq EPS, EPS 16+ and ASR-10 and the E-MU SP 1200. Between me and my studio partners we have them all.

In my personal collection I will have them all too... one day!!!

i got a 4000 and 1000. i use my 1000 in my dorm and i use my 4000 in my home studio. i also own a asr-x but thats jus a collectors item. the 4000 definitely has a wider sound compared to the 1000. i wish the 4000 was portable because its a beast but its a pain lugging it around

1000 as back up. Needs some repairing before it will be fully functional again.

The idea of having no mpc scares me.

2500 for about 4 yrs, and got a 2000xl maxed out 2 1/2 yrs ago just for novelty factor and to see what the hype was about.. and i did!

I have to say... I like the 2000xl. it is one hell of a machine. it has a bit of this and a bit of that... not too much of this or that... well balanced, well rounded, solid on it's features it does have and solid build too...


definitely a fun experience owning that machine. The hype it did have... it deserved.
