MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

4 Months old, with extra memory and with warranty left. For +/- 1490$(1100euros).

Any advice what to look for? This will be my first MPC ever. I know to check if every pad is working, dead pixels, start-up problems, the amount of memory, but he doesn't have a mixer to check each output.

Any tips how to check for possible defects? It has warranty, but you never know if he did something that doesn't grand warranty.

Thanks for you help.

As a peace of mind, I suggest that you put in a little bit more and buy a new one.

Yeah man, screw it. Just fork over a few extra bucks and go and buy a new one. Nothing like that fresh new smell.

Agreed... a new one is not much more and at least you'll have peace of mind that it is in great working condition and you'll know what its been thru and how its been treated from day one. If it were a better deal it would be worth it but uts so close to the price for new.

Thanks for the help guys. Here in Europe they cost about 1940USD(1425euro) new. It's indeed worth the peace of mind to go for a new one.

Thanks again!!

check the pins in the cf card slot. if they are bent or messed up you wont be able to update the software without an expensive repair.

lol, knowing akai/numark they aint gonna have a update.. hahahaha,, my 2 cents is dont waste ur money on akai/numark, but if ur going to get a mpc get one that can run jjos, like the 1000, or the 2500, this way you can be sure to have a good working os,. also you cant go wrong with the older mpcs, 2000xl is a good solid machine..phuck a 5000 though!

I'm going for the 5000. I don't know the history of all older MPC's, but I do know some older MPC's didn't start with a perfect OS.

I'm positive there will be an update by the end of this year.

Just a heads up, if you aren't the original owner, the warranty is invalid. I found that out the hard way. Im now outa $1500 bucks. The whole HD crashed on me. I'd go with the 2500

How can you say you're "outa" $1500...? A new hard drive is like $50. Am I missing something here...?

Prices got chopped in half worldwide last week.

This is a bargain. And still I don't want to go for the MV. I maybe silly, but I've never touched the MV. I just have my heart set at the MPC. I'm prepared to get my heart broken
