MPC1000 Midi Slave / Swing Gone

Hi all,

Something wierd here, when i put the MPC in Slave Sync Mode and fire an empty set in Ableton Live 8.1 just to trigger MIDI start, all the swing grooves from the MPC are reset to none. If i trigg PLAY START on the MPC everything is correct... Any ideas ?

Apparently it happend to me only on notes recorded trough NOTE REPEAT. Also, if i FIX the timing in TC/CLICK with a swing percentage then all tracks plays corerctly in Slave mode though not the one recorded trough NOTE REPEAT.. any further ideas ?

Hi mates,

Thanks for that, do you might have any further reading onto that specific matter concerning the MPC behaviors for me?

I'm looking at something that would summer what drops or gains you have in either way Master or Slave.

The thing i do not understand clearly is that when i program a hit on the MPC at let say 01:02:83... then a slaved
MPC to midi clock shall hit that same hit right there and nowhere else or i miss something here ?
After all the laptop is sending a CLOCK nothing else.

I mean for example, when i used to play live with a laptop and a Korg EMX-1 as slave, the Korg never lost any
groove / swing applied to any of its own patterns.. It just synchronized it's playback to the laptop main tempo.

Anyways if you've got any further readings i'll be happy to read on.

You recorded the Korg midi performance to laptop sequencer or internal?
If you recorded it to laptop sequencer then your swing came from the laptop sequencer, master.
If you the korg on its own sequencer and just played it alongside your laptop sequencer then your swing
came from the korg, internal swing.

Tweakheadz.com may have more detailed info on this, I've never checke for this particular situation though.
But there is a ton of stuff thee, maybe more on this is there, don't know for sure.

So this is what i've been doing at the time;

Master = Laptop sending MIDI CLOCK
Slave = Korg

Latptop = only audio loops
Korg = internaly sequenced with internal patterns, synched trough EXT SYNC / MIDI IN (Midi Clock from the laptop)

In fact i want to do the same but with the MPC and of course with the MPC + Swing/Groove otherwise its really no need to
buy an MPC to make those flat squared patterns everything else can do...

Will check you're things.
