Bug fixes

--------------------------------------------
Bug Fix: XL Ver1.29 15-APR-2010
--------------------------------------------
1. [GRID]

A screen is strange if LOOP EDIT is turned ON with the last bar.

<Addition>
Refer to video.
1. [STEP EDIT]

[HOLD] Addition

Refer to manual.

2. [INPUT THRU]

MAIN OUT can be recorded on an INPUT THRU screen.
Refer to manual.

3. Reverse play addition of a sample

[DIR. (Direction)] column was added to [GPE].
A sample will be reverse-played back if REVRS is select.

In TRIM, if PAD3 is pressed, it will be reverse-played back as NOTE ON.
If PAD7 is pressed, it will be reverse-played back as ONE SHOT.

Not a huge amount to get excited about, personally, but i'm glad JJ is still adding things. It shows that the OS is still being developed

wow, this is a promising update.

as far as i can remember JJ has never changed anything about the akai step edit - until now. I still use step edit , and never hold heartedly switched to grid edit-so being able to locate data and adjust it while the sequence plays is awesome-and something you cant do in grid edit.

3 new additions in one update is pretty good going.

oh my goodnes do not sleep on input thru record!

edit:after playing around for 10 minutes this is cool. You can record samples without the sequence stopping when you stop recording. The sequence does pause momentarily though , which means its not suitable for live audio looping. still a handy tool though.

edit 2: haha i think i might have been the one whose sleeping.Has this always been possible on the in thru screen? i notice JJ actually says "main out" can be recorded and sure enough if main out is selected in the record screen it'll be recorded when you hit the record button on the in thru screen. So it seems my initial excitement was for a feature thats been there for a while!

edit 3:after playing around some more i think i finally understand it! it is an entirely new feature. but you can ONLY record the sound of the main out (which will include th in thru sound if its also routed to the main out). so not as useful as i had first hoped. Oh well .. nothign to see here ..move on people!

I know the updates are happening pretty fast again, but I'd love it if Tutor wrote a thorough guide to XL in plain English. We can all hope...

i'm confused. you could always hit the record button in input thru mode. does this also record any samples you are playing in a pattern too? and if the sequencer isn't running it records just whats hitting the input? is this useful?

is this useful?

despite my initial enthusiam...mmm...No.
I suppose it means you can use the in thru filters when recording a sample.

i'm confused

judging by my previous post ..me too!

after checking some previous versions of xl the record button didnt do anything in the input thru screen, and record was disabled when moving from other screens.

Maybe a minor update...but the reverse sample playback function has been a long time feature request. Now we just need 'alternating' sample playback and from that aspect, anything more would be all gravy.

Hi
Its funny

But In the Input Thru Mode, when i record the Main Out, the Sample is distordet and overdrived......

I transmit the Bug to JJ

.......or ist it not a Bug...?

Michael^

Aha...... :!:

1.Edit
OK I find it out.
I have a 909 Bassdrum, the Level is at 100% and my Master Level is on -6dB...... and the Input Thru Master Out Record Sample is overdrived.....

When i changed to -12dB, the record is ok........!!!???

Why is it so ????

Great to see these updates coming thick and fast again. Noticed the JJ Sequencer link seems to have disappeared on the download page.

Reverse Playback might get me back to XL after downgrading to os2.
thats a really cool feature!

I'm gonna install this later...

An instant reverse audition does sound great. :D

@ Sooty - while JJ is on a creative spurge, why don't you request the changes in XL that would make you switch?

already did way back in the day & he said it was impossible (qlinks & filters).

i could try and hit him with the request again, but i get a feeling that it is a really low level change that he can't undo. he wouldn't have gimped the qlinks like that if it wasn't neccesary to what he was trying to do with 2xl. :(

i'm more hoping for an OS 3 that will fuse all of these features into one big badass OS!
