Vocal Sample

i found a nice vocal that im wanting to sample,but im trying 2 cut down the beat that its on,any tips?

EQ like crazy... Maybe try adding some effects that lower the sound of the beat...

Also (a great tip if used correctly)... Use limiting to get out the hits... Let's say you have drums that peak at around -2 dB... And the vocals on the track peak around -6 dB...

Then use a limiter at about -6 maybe -7 dB... This should cut out all the punch to the drums... This allows you to lay your own drums on top... If done correctly you will hardly notice the drums when you lay your own...
