mpc 2500 vs a PC???????

Yeah, don't waste your time with MPKs or MPDs. If you want MPC-style hardware sequencing that integrates seamlessly with software production, you want Maschine. Akai has been riding on Roger Linn's concept from the 80's and the brand recognition it attained from its success. But the world is moving on and Akai will try to catch up by making software for the iPad instead of innovating on its outdated hardware lines.

Post up the specs of your computer. If you have a really nice computer, with a PCI sound card (with midi inputs), then you might as well get a midi controller (i.e. MPD26) and you will get a descent latency.

I would say PC, sounds better with a decent card like M-Audio Audiophile 24/96

the real difference? fun. the mpc is FUN.

fun is a catalyst to creativity, and this - my hip-hop loving brethren - is why we choose mpc's over software.






ps. i am fully aware not everyone loves hip-hop or uses mpc's to make hip-hop. but i do.

People still use 20 year old cubase setups to this day... what are you talking about?

I just got rid of my 30 year old micom not that long ago... and it still functioned 100% (even the two 5.25 drives still worked)


none will last any longer then the other... in fact if anything an mpc would last less long since you bang on it. (not that any of that really matters since they dont build MPCs anymore close to the way the MPC 60 was built....

I agree. MPC is definitely more fun compared to using software with a mouse and midi controller. I find Maschine to be more fun than MPCs though.

I've always sync'd my mpc from cubase/nuendo. It even doubles up as one of my sound modules too.
