Hey there everybody! I was having a problem with the chopshop. When i take lets say a 2 bar sample then chop it up equally into 16 parts. then create a program out of the 16 samples. The chopped samples sound so weak there flat and have way more treble then the original sample, and barely any bass. and sometimes it even leaves out sounds out from the original sample. Can anyone out there help me with this problem. thanks for any input.

this happened to me once, but it was only on one section of one sample i was recording off of a cd. unfortunately i have no idea why this was and i would love to hear why this happens incase it happens again.

do you know which os is running on your mpc?
the original akai os dropped the right channel of stereo samples when creating a program in chop shop.

i don“t know when they added it (read it up in the manual addendums) but the newest akai os 1.24 chops in stereo.
this takes longer than in earlier versions of the os. to see the waveform of the other channel you have to change the field where it says left to right.

peace jo

You should manually chop it.

Why would you spread a 2 bar sample over 16 pads?

Because a 2 bar sample has no business being spread across 16 pads. You have to manually chop if all you need is 2 bars.

I mean why would you want 16 parts of a 2 bar sample?

He is just using an example and if he wants a 2bar phrase chopped up in 16 pieces why not?

He didn't mention he was chopping 2 bars up into 16 parts and if he wants a 2bar phrase chopped up in 16 pieces, why not?

thanks!

it was just one part (one pad's worth) of a very large sample that didn't play correctly. it was over 32 pads, and only that one pad played the sample incorrectly. when i tried recording it again in different ways it still sounded the same (it - in fact - missed out some of the instruments that the original recording had!). was very strange...
