using mpc as master in acid

I have never used midi into a daw, I have one midi cable, a midi interface, an mpc, and sony acid. I want to use my mpc strictly for timecode and still record audio... Can it be done and if so how...? I'm using jjos2xl

I think so... but you didn't really explain what you want to do. You might get some responses if you are more specific about what you want the MPC to do (trigger samples in Acid, set tempo...) and what you want Acid to do (host VSTs, play loops...)

What I want to do is track my beats out in acid, I want acid and my mpc to sync up on time so I can record my audio tracks seperately without having to edit and realign them.

If Acid can be slaved to mtc this can be done.

MPC Midi out -> Interface Midi in

Set up the mpc´s mtc (mode+pad9, sync out to the appropriate output, mode: midi time code) and the settings in Acid (see its manual).

if he is trying to record vocals in acid cant he sync the mpc as the slave? i know when i connected mine via midi using out on pc and in on 1k, it was pretty easy to set up to play my mpc when i pressed record in acid. not even really sure thats what hes trying to do still, but if so maybe that would be easier?

What about just recording onto the mpc's audio tracks?

I understand what you mean... you want to track your beats into Acid individually (I presume you only have a stereo input on your soundcard) and have them all line up in sync without having to edit the start of them all. I use cubase, but the principle will be the same:

On mpc:
Sync Out:X (Master) [the midi out port u are using]
Mode: Midi time code
Frame rate: [set this to be the same frame rate as Acid, Cubase detects and sets this automatically for you]
Send MMC: on or off (let's the mpc control the time cursor if on)

In Acid set it to external sync using midi timecode.
Set the tempo in Acid to be exactly the same as the tempo in your mpc.

Hit play on mpc and it should all sync up nicely

NB: It takes at least a bar to sync up perfectly after hitting play, so on your mpc create an empty 'sync' sequence that is 4 bars long and put it at the beginning of your mpc song when tracking.... so everything syncs up before your track begins for real.
